Hello all basically one of my rear seat belts has been burnt through where someone has previously welded a patch in. The seat belt is useless now.. anyway since finding a replacement is a nightmare.. can I use a static 3 point e marked seat belt on the effected side. The other side will have the factory seatbelt there would this be a pass??? Cheers

What year is the car? Were they fitted as standard? My 81 924 has none fitted so it's not an issue to not have any. Don't know what the cut off date is? Sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon

i had an old banger that had a knackered rear seat belt. The mot tester said if I remove the rear seat they won't test the belt. So I removed it for the test then put it back in once it passed.

Rear seat belts weren't a mandatory fitment until 1987. You can probably remove them.

I had a 1986 Capri which I had fitted belts into due to carrying kids but as stated they were not "mandatory" until 1987 so if they are removed then no problem. If they are fitted then they have to be tested and work

First used before 1st April '87 according to this. linkThere'd be no problem with having a static fitted though.

Even on new cars you only need one three point belt in the rear for an mot, if they're there tho they have to be in good working order.
I was asked this on my last refresher course - on a 7 seat vauxhall Zafira with fold away/temporary seats in the boot how many of the 5 rear seats need a belt to pass a test. Answer. One. How dumb is that lol
