YOES!
This weekend it was the Tatton park car show. As all my other car show ambitions for this year have been scuppered by supposed 'friends' getting married on key show dates, I was not going to let this one pass me by. I would be accompanied by the current Ms_bo11ox, who is simply not interested in cars, especially not 1980's J clunkers with holey sills, however she will, at a pinch, look at a red E-type with wires or similar. Of course there is much more to see at a car show than just cars, everyone knows that.
The sun was shining, the grass was green,
and a great day's entertainment was there for the taking.
Lets kick off with a few choice motaz.
The vauxhall club always seem to have a great presence at this show, just look at these honeys.
Oooohh! what a stunner! I'd hit that 3 times.
This guy must have been kicking himself for not crashing into that bin, Frank Drebin-style.
One for you wuvvum! 18mpg, there you go.
I asked ms_B if she liked this. Encouragingly she said yes, so I told her that I had one. She soon stopped crying and I agreed to sell it quickly and take her out for a meal with the proceeds. MOT tomorrow!
Take two plenums into the shower? Mmmm-hmmm.
does this belong to serial capital-letter user 'RA28GT'? I know hes gotta lotta love for them.
This lovely tasmin has a cosworth engine! Marvellous.
This is an interesting TVR prototype with a funny face and a single-turbo 2.8 v6! I remember having a copy of posh Filby mag 'Alternative Cars' with it on the cover, anyone got that?
This is a TVR AJP8 engine, never seen one before. Amazingly compact, it looks like you could easily pick it up and throw it around. nice simple castings too. Lovely.
Amusingly in the afternoon the TVR boys had some sort of 'Sound off' where they all revved their engines at once for about 10 minutes! very impressive....
Yeah, a Viceroy, whatever.
WHAT! TWO VICEROYS!!!!! zOMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!
Not sure what I was trying to achieve with this photo, but I like it anyway.
Here are the stars of it, again.
Look at the mintness of this Toledo! LOOK AT IT!
Awesome pinstriping skills here, he's clearly learnt from the best!
Seen this round Crewe a lot, very nice.
This was awesome, a beautiful sport Quattro replica. How is it a replica? well it is RHD and has a 'production' 20v engine. Its probably much better than the original. An absolute honey.
Tip top tat.
This isn't all barry tat, it did at least have a turbo conversion. Still looked like a fuggin 'Nike Air Max' though.
Good job PhoenixC was not here, or he'd have whipped the wings off this and squared it up in front of everyone.
gratuitous Opel 'ass shot'. I had not noticed that radio aerial in the foreground, my camera did though and focused on it intensely, thus knackering up the shot.
Reliant-designed 'Sabra', never seen one of those before. Built in Israel!
Yeah its a cliche, but come on, you would wouldnt you.
As you can see, by now ms_B was really getting into the swing of it. Work it baby!
Feel free to insert a 'narrow body' joke here!
Not strictly speaking a 'narrow body'.
This was Ms_B's car of the show. Admittedly it is pretty nice...!
This escort had 11000 miles on and was totally unrestored and original.
Look at that! You cannot recreate those finishes. Awesome.
Very nice. Our favourite colour here on R-R!
this MR2 was in a concours competition, lovely. Anyone remember when these came out? I thought they were a bit special, particularly cos of the plastic rear sunvisor that projected the word 'Toyota' onto the rear window. Superb.
Lovely cavalier.
The hot wather meant pleany of exposed flesh on show....
If you've got it, flaunt it.
sneaked this pic when Ms_B was not looking. check the father-son haircut alignment! Quality.
Can you guess what sort of car this guy has got? I'll tell you in a bit. I LOL'd when I found out!
fuggin builders!!!
Ok a few more cars.
2.0 manual, no sunroof. prime 'material'! Wisely the lad had it boxed in on the stand.
this guy was running over folks toes all day. Restecp!
What a suburban GT-man special! Class in a glass.
This was being judged in the concours comp (check the woman with the clipboard). Next year I think i'll take a clipboard with me and stand next to a few cars marking stuff down ominously.
What on earth! Fantastic styling.
Very 'SS'! (Actually a bit too new for that kind of joke I suppose, not to mention a bit tasteless).
Ths car marited a pic just for the Bo11ox family connection if nowt else.
THATS ALL FOR NOW FOLKS, i'll bung a load more up tomorrow if anyone's interested! Cars people gazebos pottery figurines and more!!!!!!
