I have just changed the Headgasket on my 96 Mgf 1.8vvc .. This is a job I have done several times before on other Mgfs So was not expecting there to be no spark when it was time to fire it up.. It will just crank over but nothing at the plugs I'm Reali stuck and as our escort Si is off the road as well We are without a car so any help here would be very much appreciated The immobilizer is all working fine Theres fuel getting to the engine fine I have changed the crank sensor with a new genuine part But made no difference I have checked all the cam/crank timings and are spot on I all checked all the connectors that came off when taking the head off and appear to be fine ??

Have you checked the coil on the front of the block? One HT lead and two pin connector. I have a spare it you need one.

Well it was running fine Till it was taken apart a put back together which makes me think something has been disrupted ....I have taken a plug out and cranked it over which has confirmed no spark... as it has two coil packs with two leads coming out of each with a separate connector to each surely both could not of failed?

got power to the coils?
if so, try a new crank sensor, if not, check the management system relays.

Have you checked to see if you've forgotten to re-fit an earth lead? Coils are generally earthed somewhere.

Have you found the issue yet? I would defo check for the elusive earth cable condition and that power is getting to the coils.I have had weird stuff like this happen to me before, it is often a connector that is playing up as it didnt like being disturbed. Even had the plugs die, just check with another plug if you havent already.
