I have a 1996 Toyota Carib 4x4 automatic. It has recently started making a clonking noise (coming from the back) when I take my foot off the gas. This used to only happen when I changed down into 2nd or 1st but now happens when I'm in D or OD.
Should I be worried/robbing a bank?
Cheers.

Not yet. I'm ignoring the car and hoping the noise will go away. That usually works.
So could be the rear propshaft?

That sounds less horrifically expensive. In that case, I'll get underneath and have a shuftie. I've had the car about 4 months and not got dirty yet so it was about time for something to happen......
