I remember buying a Mk2 Cav' years ago for £40... It lasted a week...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As mentioned above there are sub-Century cars out there it's just what needs doing to them after a short while...
I think newer older cars have problems almost designed in that make them financially not worth buying... Take the Ford Scorpio for example, I believe its wiring was actually designed to bio-degrade and it did do that very effectively on some!!!!!!!!!!!
As for 'retros' for £100...?! I think you may struggle... You never know though!

If you factor in the fact that you now have to tax any car you buy rather than benefit from ved remaining there's no such thing as a sub £100(roadworthy)car. Unless the car itself is free.

Not seen one yet but I feel its coming, people in general don't want old cars, my R reg 406 with 216000 on the clock is worth £50 according to We Buy any car? I feel older stuff is the future as you can fix it, kids don't believe me when I say in the 70s the only diagnostic tool we needed was a light bulb with two wires soldered on!

got £92 for two vw polo's last month 1,600kg thats with wheels and tyres being brought back and batteries weighed in seperatly was told the that price was expected to drop by another 20% by april. No scrap vans driving about collecting recently, if you want a car collected for scrap a few places around by me are starting to charge, alot of modern rubbish on the local facebook pages with few weeks mot etc reasonably cheap
just had quick look there's a small add for a ford escort no tax or test been listed since 17th march for £30 only person who has shown interest is scrap guy asking if it got alloys.

With the DD option now with tax I don't think it contributes to the roadworthy aspect, it's just another bill like insurance and fuel now. Mate of mine is currently running round in an R-reg 2.0 petrol Mondeo he swapped a pile of Xbox 360 games worth about £50-£60 for. Gaffer tape all over the bumpers, 155k, rusty rear arches, lots of dents and scratches and very mucky, but it actually drives quite well!

I recently bought a caddy van, wouldn't class it as retro personally but some of them are old enough to be considered retroish by some. Anyway I wanted to do a Ibiza front end swap, cheapest I could find was £325. I set out and Bought a MOT and Taxed Ibiza on the road for £150 and drove it home. They had it up at £200 and told me that's the value at scrap, I offered £150 and they took it. Scrap value isn't scrap value a majority of the time. I've seen a few cars locally for less than the particular models were making last year,, I have trouble walking away from anything for 100 to 200 quid!!! Oh for the days of 100 quid mk1 escorts again... £100 mk1 LoL ,I paid £25 for one with tax mot but that was in 1992. A work mates dad told me just last week that had a MK1 3dr, MK2 3dr and a MK3 and he paid no more than £25 for any of them. I bought my first mini from my school librarian, 32k 1 owner from new with MOT and tax on it for not a lot at all, cant remember how much exactly but I was only about 13 at the time so not a lot at all.

Scrap is £60 a ton in Grantham. I get a sub £100 car every week or so, most people still think their scrap is still worth £200+ and get moody when you tell them the reality. Do you go to scrapyards for the sub 100 cars

if thats as rust free as it looks then certainly a good panel donor, mechanically no idea though. and theres a few £'s in that stereo too. if it mechanically tidies up reasonably, doesnt have too much rust on it etc someone may have got themselves 12 months of use cheaply, couple of decent tyres on the front (seller said they needed changing) and a cheap set of wheeltrims (i cant stand mismatched sets) and it would be good to go, alternatively could sell it to a first timer for them to have their inevitable knocks and scrapes in

Reasonable chance the cat on it is worth £150-200 though, if it's the original!

I've always found it's where you look. I bought a mk2 polo breadvan out the bargain pages for £150 about 5 years back. I'd say cars £200 and under with MOT are still out there definately.
