Hi, I would be willing to travel to France to save these vital components. A lot of people from the Reliant world on here will know me by my username and know the lengths I go to in order to save reliants! I was actually at the reliant gathering in tamworth, the year the lucas hybrid was on display,

I've heard back from Dave, so I'm sure a few others have has well - the Hybrid is no longer with him, but seems to have changed hands (allegedly to a safe ownership again) via whoever was providing storage. Does sound like a rash of misfortune has befallen the original people trying to save it. He was kind enough to send me some pictures of it from around July 2012 where it looks much as it did in the 'outside the workshop' pic - the interior partially stripped, no running gear, criminal damage to the front, sills and rear but all fixable with time and patience.
So I am guessing that the next people - who would have originally been collecting the parts in 2013 - are the ones who have the car now, unless it has changed hands yet again?
It all sounds like people perhaps got a bit strained under shared ownership of the vehicle in some ways.

Overnight update for everyone. I have now got in touch with someone who knows someone else who knows who has the car. If you follow me. Contact is being attempted, e-mails have been sent so we await replies. I am assured that the car is OK and has not been dumped/scrapped.
I will keep you all informed

I'm sure you will all be happy to know, there is no need to come all the way out here, as the pieces we had, have already been transported to Sheffield, where they were received by Garfield. (Who I might add seemed very relieved.) As I had nothing to do with this until the very end, I am not sure of the whereabouts of the rest of it, but I did what I could in order to resurrect the poor old girl. I will try to upload some pics of what was left.

Is this a recent development? And who is Garfield of Sheffield? Not seen any mention of him on this thread so far? All still seems very vague and I'm still not convinced the car has been given a guaranteed lifeline...

Hey MK2VR6, yes it is a recent development, the 'delivery' of the boot full of stuff actually took place on the rainy 14th of this month. We had to do it in a car park, as our visit to Garfield (Neil) was en route to lots of other locations we were visiting. Anyway Sheffield was just convenient for us all, he's not really from there, come to think of it I don't know where he lives, though he did suggest we could deliver there. Here's a link to his website: www.theplasticshed.co.uk/He came here a couple of years ago, (I wasn't even here at the time) and he took a few bits, but couldn't load the heavy stuff in his (then) Pajero. Not sure why exactly. As I said, I wasn't about so was unaware of what went on. I never even saw the car intact, ever. Just parts. Nor did I have anything to do with it at all until we delivered it all. As far as the lifeline you mention is concerned, I am confident. There will never be any sure guarantee I can give to you that it will be completely restored, and (be)re-come what it once was. Though I think it's chances of survival are very good. It does seem that it's been bizarrely scattered all over the place, but at least Neil has more of what he needs, to do what needs doing. Fingers crossed. If there's anything more you would like to know, I would be more than happy to help.

Niel, Dave, myself and Phil have been involved since day one. The electrics are now safe and we now need to get the car to our storage.
The back story problems are twofold and very simple - once initially rescued, the car was stored by an acquaintance who went bust - and the electrics were in France as you know.

Is there a build thread somewhere or a website for this car and the huge efforts being made to save it? I must say I've been quite fascinated by the whole thing, and I'm really happy that it seems things are going in the right direction!
Are we now in a situation where the car, running gear etc are all in the same place and in the hands of someone / a group of people who are working to restore it now?

The whole backstory to this is a strong contender for a bafta award along with the "Stolen 2011 Datsun 240K GT & Bedford CF van Cambs" thread on here.. you couldn't make these scripts up.

Are we now in a situation where the car, running gear etc are all in the same place and in the hands of someone / a group of people who are working to restore it now? I hope so. But it does hold promise:) Certainly more now anyway. Unfortunately most of the parts transported weren't stored particularly well, (one could even say 'disrespected!') and are in need of serious TLC. But now they're in the right hands, they should be able to be made good. I know nothing about antique circuitry, but at least it has a better chance of working than some more sophisticated modern circuit boards. Though the likely hood of the original electrics being rebuilt and refitted, I fear are slim. It all depends on what the experts reckon. You could fit all that gubbins inside something the size of a matchbox these days. Though reliability?...Hmmm, questionable. I would really love to see it back as it once was, in full glory! (If only just to spite my brother!)
