Hello everyone,
It has been a rather miserable day here in France today, so we were having a bit of a ferret around on the Net when we came across your forum thread on the Lucas Hybrid on this link (http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/132771). We were a little surprised by the rudeness and arrogance of the dick who was trying to sell the missing bits to the new owners. Particularly as I am actually the one who gave the rolling body to what I thought was the reliant owners club, and I actually still have the other bits for it, well those we didn't give to already give to Neil/Garfield when he passed through here.
For my sins, I am also the father of the imbecile who partially destroyed this vehicle, and I put up half the money to buy it from it's previous owner off Ebay thinking we were going to restore it, get it running and be able to use it on the road. Regrettably, I was not consulted about the cars destruction, in spite of being the majority owner, and didn't find out until it was too late, so I can now only apologise to the entire world for not being sufficiently on the ball to arrest this horrendous sacrilege.
In answer to one question 'how the Hell is this not in a museum' I did contact several but no one wanted it even though I was giving it away at that point, and simply wanted someone to love and care for it.
I was unaware of my sons efforts to sell these components until his brother found the original thread today and pointed it out to me. I'm sorry to say we enjoyed the barracking you guys gave my eldest lad and were sorry to reach the end of the thread. Yes, you guys are right, he is a Dick, and no, he does not have limitless funds which keep him on the internet, it is my internet connection he uses. Though because he has never had a real job, and is too idle even to sign on as terminally lazy, he is allowed to use it only until 11.00am, which means he seldom does because he it too idle even to get out of bed in time. My apologies to you all for him being such a curse word, if I had strangled him at birth I would have been out for 27 years by now and free of his arrogant stupidity.
Anyway, back to the car....... The motor, generator, electric motor, prop shaft and several massive circuit boards are still in my possession. While the idiot was trying to sell these to the new owners, I was trying to GIVE them said pieces to for nothing, and yet to no avail. Neil arranged for someone to come and get them in 2013/14, but no one came and though they are in our way I have patiently stored them waiting someone to contact me. My patience is by now clear to all, I'm sure. Were I not so I would have only one son not two, however, frequently falling over this pallet load of heavy car bits is becoming more than a little irritating, so I thought I would use this opportunity to give interested parties one last chance, via your forum.
The reason for this is simply that last I heard, Neil didn't even know where the car was, and it is now very clear that no-one is really sufficiently interested in keeping it alive or reuniting it with it's original power unit. I even suggested that if Neil arranged for it to be given to the Heritage Transport Museum in Aldridge I would give them the rest of it, but that got no response either. OK, imbecile son has muddied the waters a little, but that was several years ago so I don't understand the problem. Now.....It is like this...... First one here with a case of Ginger Wine and a cheap bottle of Scotch can take it all away, otherwise it's on its way to the scrap yard and out of my way by the end of the month.
Oh! And my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed, for all the fun we got out of reading the original thread, it's not often one gets such a good laugh. (I hadn't realised what an arrogant Prick he can be when hiding behind a keyboard) One wonders if Julian and I would have got our money back if he had succeeded in selling the components for more than we paid for the entire car.
