hello all, please be gentle with my GF's Daily and our Family Fun car, was bought to give my car a rest from speed bumps at GF's work, it's a 1.4 Petrol Kangoo RXE, that's on Clio Coilovers of the front and I've changed the rusty back axle and lowered it on the Torsion bars at the rear,
the overall plan for this is to buy a Clio sport 172 and change all the running gear and wiring over into the Kangoo and have a giggle at the traffic lights aswell as it serving my gf for daily duties, and us and our 2 sons for weekends out in the forest etc anyway my car on it's winter wheels
I know it's not retro, but it's a MK1 Kangoo, it's different, so please enjoy
panelling out the roof rack so I can throw the boys stuff up there, and just going to enjoy it for now

well the Kangoo is a 1.4 E7J, same as the Clio and people retro fit sport stuff into them the subframe is all Clio, it's just wiring and dash is slightly different, but i'll just transfer everything from a 172 Clio sport to the Kangoo

I had a diesel kangoo van & 1.4RXE car like this. Useful little things, lots of room in them for passengers & luggage. My 1.4 was fairly gutless tbh. One of the reasons I sold it. Still have a soft spot for them.

Sorry to say this....... . . . . . . But I am jealous !!
I really like these vans. And your 172 plan makes it even more desireable.
It may not be the oldest car on here but the right treatment should see it fitting in just fine.

Bookmarked, i wanted to do the 172 swap with my 1.4 cube and the info will come in handy to pass on.
From what I'd read ECU wise you needed wiring from the a pillar forwards from the 172 clio.

I looked at these in the past, like the idea of sliding rear doors and also the 3 seats (for my 3 kids) and also when they are not in it I can fit my mountain bike in it easily, I like your plans very much, was it easy to adjust the rear torsion bar?

I love the fact it has sliding doors, helps no end getting the kids in and out the back, also the tailgate makes a great shelter from the rain, made use of that while on a walk the other day, the Torsion Bar wasn't just seized, it'd had become a single piece axle but I have a little 1.2 LPG Kangoo van that I was going to 172 swap as a sleeper complete with ladders on roof, but I'm binning that, but stole the better axle off the back of it, it was semi seized but with on torsion bar coming out easy, and the axle on the floor in the garden, I was able to get the other one out, Just don't miss with the hammer 3 times, breaking your thumb.... it hurts

sounds a pain in the backside, I may start looking into these as it would be dual purpose would be happy to fit my bike in the back, hate having it on a rack or even on the roof to be honest

took it out to the forest me and my girlfriend, my MTB (mongoose) fits in without removing the wheels, perfect. I've had a 125cc DNA scooter thing in the back on it's centre stand before now too,

I was really close to buying a Kangoo recently. But after the bombardment of abuse from my closest friends, including threats of not being allowed to park outside their houses I decided against.
Good luck with the 172 swap, it will certainly turn some heads!

can't decide whether to keep the 172 wheels when it's had the swap, or go full sleeper and put on the steelies and hubcaps and raise it again, meh we will see, for now it sit's lovely, just needs paint work

I have one of these earmarked as my 'retirement' van. Looking forward to the engine swap.
