Need an alternator for the replacement BMW M52 engine in my Triumph.
2 types are listed, a 90 amp and a 140 amp.
I'm sure 90 amps will be enough, it's an old Triumph without all the modern electical gubbins, but the 140 amps type are quite a bit cheaper....what to do?
Will fitting a 140 amp alternator boil the battery or drain the hosepower?
Thanks

It'll be fine. It's a peak max output. As long as it physically fits it's not an issue to be over rated a bit.

Indeedy. Do not forget that the fuel pump will take a hefty draw as well.
