Yo!
I am putting a new rad on my mk2 Cav 1.3 and was just wondering what was the correct antifreeze to use?
Have heard conflicting recommendations.

Indeed, I'd be careful about the decent non-OAT bit ; a number IMO are not. I know nuns and kittens will not be killed with whatever coolant goes in, and that people say "Coolant's coolant' but on a number of cars I have noticed cheaper coolant including ECP's cheapest Blue stuff, Unipart's CoolBlue and Bluecol surprisingly seem to go rusty coloured surprisingly quickly. This is the state of the coolant that came out of my Stag after a big coolant flush years before and a coolant change in between that: If this was isolated to just the Stag I would have said that it was silt from the Stag's engine. FWIW that was a 40%/60% Mix of coolant to water with many people going 30%/70%. My Escort on an engine rebuit a year ago using a Zetec block now has similar coloured coolant despite having a new radiator etc. and my previous MGB was no different. If it were me I'd either go OAT if the old coolant is fully flushed out (i.e none of it is present whatsoever) or use something like Comma Glytasyn G48 ; this non-OAT coolant seems to keep well. It is also about the only non-OAT coolant which comes with modern BS standards attached to it as well as manufacturer approval. Yes the cheaper stuff may work but a blocked radiator is hardly cheap either .
