Diy factory spec fuel injection as a modification?

Hoping I might catch some other RRers stuck on a forced bank holiday away from the garage! One of my long term projects is a Reliant Robin powered motorbike. I'm going for a slightly bigger SU carb at first but was wondering, what would it take to convert it to a very simple SPI. I'm thinking Rover Metro/100 or similar, NOT for power, just, well, just to do it really. Should be reliable too once it's sorted. Thanks in advance.

if the ecu is mappable then go for it, or if theres a variant of that engine that did run an ecu thats the easiest route.

I have coilpack & map sensor equipped bosch motronic mp3.1 from a 1.9 zx volcane on my 205 gti which had jetronic le2 with afm and dizzy originally.

I had to swap the flywheel, thermostat housing and throttle switch for a potentiometer, all standard zx bits, and adapt the zx loom to fit the 205 bay.

interesting idea, from previous experience a carb swapped from one engine to another foreign one of the same capacity or at least within 200cc has worked nigh on unnoticeably different for me

so on the above basis, as a MPI system is sensing in a closed loop fashion then I reckon a fuel injected 800-1100cc mpi setup could be swapped over and would basically drive fine and maybe even self adjust near enough
even more so if the system has a MAF sensor rather than a MAP based system

the most difficult issue is how to provide the crank angle signal as a rover k series uses a flywheel based trigger pattern so maybe a ford Valencia mpi would be the most straight forward as a 36-1 trigger wheel could be fitted up thus solving that issue

I would look forward to hearing how it goes as I hope to try it myself some time in the future
