Hi all,
I think I know the outcome here, but I'll give it a go anyway.
My 2000 ST200 in Imperial Blue failed it's MOT today. Needs brake pads and discs all round, new sills, and the centre seat belt in the back seat needs replaced due to a small hole in it. I'm not going to get it repaired, so wondered whether to just drive it to the srapyard the day the MOT runs out (30th April), or whether there may be a market for it?
Rear bumper is smashed up a bit thanks to a car park, and as usual, the rear arches are rusted. Bottom of the drivers door has started bubbling, as has the front wing, but these are nothing major.
Engine is spot on (103K) and I've had no bother with it in the 3 and a half years I've owned the car (just changed the oil and filter on Saturday, as I always do 1st week in April, BIG mistake!!), box is good. I've done 23K in the 3 and a half years I've had it. Wheels need a refurb. Haven't checked the life left in the tyres recently, but got no advisory for them, so must still have decent life in them.
Interior is the half leather Recaro type and in decent nick. The passenger seat has a very small cigarette burn in it (can only see it if it's pointed out). Driver's bolster has a little bit of wear, but no holes.
Door cards are in good nick with no rips or tears.
I'm gutted it needs so much done for the MOT, cos for how long I've had it, how much I paid, and it's all round equipment and speed, it's been the best car I've ever had. My Impreza's were faster, but cost way more than I paid for this, so as an all round car, it's been a topper.
A sad day. So do I just drive it to the scrappy or go spares or repairs? I know this motor falls out of the usual earlier than 2000 criteria for this site, but it's only just, and I've seen a few of these in the For Sale section over the few years I've been on here, so hope this is ok
Thanks,
Andy
