Hi guys, I know the purists wouldnt like this but i'm planning at some point this year in removing the 2300 slant 4 from my magnum and replacing it with a saab B204. Has anyone done this conversion to a hc viva/magnum/firenza? Any advice much appreciated. I'll probabaly be buying a complete donor car for the engine etc then just need to sort out which rwd box to use and get a custom prop shaft made up. cheers Mac

Omega gearbox is the easiest bolt on solution or use a t5 - xe bellhousing if your going to make serious power . Auto omega bellhousing bolts on so you could use a jag s type manual with an adaptor . Sump is the next hurdle depending on where the crossmember is but I supply laser cut steel flanges so you can make your own . Saab 900 has the throttle body in the centre but the 9000 has a log type inlet which needs cutting and reversing to put the throttle at the front whicb makes pipe work a bit easier to package . Donors are getting thin on the ground as they are getting stuffed into fwd vauxhalls at an alarming rate but you really just need a complete motor with everything on and the engine loom . Plenty of info on the Saab conversions forum about wiring etc . Unless you want to go for mega power the 204 is easier to get hold of from the 900-9-3 up to 2000 as long as the coil pack is red

Cheers Froggy some great info there:0) i'll probably be going for the B204, not looking for mega power just trying to make the car a bit more user friendly as i use it every day. So next on my list is sourcing a donor car and omega box. Once i've got the bits i need i'll be in touch for one of your sump kits

Best bet is the actual UK Saabs forum, there's not much info/knowledgeable people on the Saab conversion one I found. UKSaabs really know their stuff. I had to make my own looms from scratch (and the simple wiring diagram is free if anyone wants it).
