I've wanted a 205 for a while. I really fancied a 5 door because it will be my "practical" daily car when finished and I like doors. Got myself a 1990 205 auto for £330 in absolutely amazing condition & it came with 5 1.6gti speedlines on brand new tyres. And 5 steel wheels. And 5 doors. First thing I did was respray it from beige to gun metal grey. I'm keeping all the granny style interior and going for a sleeper/retro look. Gti front valance and the 1.6gti wheels and everything else standard. Apart from the engine :-) work is ongoing, need to fit gti front suspension bits and finish off all the engine related jobs I'm hoping to finish it in time for the Retro Rides summer holiday in July! Heres some pictures.. Bad edit to see if I liked grey  Paint on!  Testing the engine crane  Old engine out  New engine arrived and was inspected by my helper  New engine is in  Nice big Nissan 180SX radiator  All fits :-)  |

What engine are you going for? Our 205 was capable of 160, with some left. But we geared it down as its a rally car.

What engine was that? My gearing should max at 170mph @ 7800rpm, although boost would have dropped off by then. The calculators for top speed that take into account drag and frontal area say I'll need 230hp for 170mph! I'll have a little more than that.. |

We were running 209 bhp, with a 750kg car, we never reached 160, we did hit 140, but it was still pulling

I've hit 155mph in mine, but that was it sitting on the limiter in 5th, mind you the limiter is only at 6750rpm, that's with a 3.0 V6 engine with V6 (ML5T) gearbox. Looking at your engine mounts I can't see it being a PSA engine at all. MY guess is a saab motor of some kind, having looked at one in a mates saab the engine mountings all seem to be in remarkably similar places to the 205 engine bay |
