The drivers side of my car is really damp. I had it restored last January so shouldn't be rust holes. Basically asking for any common places its getting in and how do i dry it out? It got to stand outside at the moment unfortunately. It does seem to be more under the seat but i cant see any damaged door seals. thanks, Chris

Other things to check are the area under the fuse box it rots out and leaks, is it pointing down hill? If so there is a chance that it's leaking in the tailgate/rear lights and running forward, check under the backseat for damp that would be the best indicator, the best way to dry it would be to take the seat out, remove the sound deadening from under the carpet and dry that while it's out, that stuff soaks up water like a sponge, dry the metal under the carpet and use something to dry the carpet

I just went out and pulled up the carpet (seen as its nice now) its dried up a bit now but, the soundproofing in front of the seat is soaking... cant see any holes around the fuse box and it seems dry under the pedals.... I'm wondering if its a bad idea to mess with the fuse box.. creating more leaks/moving old wiring? it must be from round there though. The top of the inside cill was dry too (once i'd taken off the plastic)
I did read that i could be from the tailgate but it doesn't seem that wet at the rear.

You can check the condition of the metal under the fuse box without disturbing it, try looking up from the drivers footwell with a torch shining up, you may need to move a couple of things aside to see but it'll give you a good indication, also while your there check if it's coming in where the heater motor mounts, also check the corner of the windscreen seal

You could try hiring a smoke machine and turning it on inside the car, then watching for where the smoke escapes from. I've never done this myself but have seen it done on wheeler dealers, decent video as well-

Remove seats and carpets. "Puff" cheap talc over edged of floor and hose down from outside. Any dip of water will very clearly be shown on the talc

I didnt have time to take everything out today but, i stuck paper and card down the edge of the carpet and under the hole where all the fuse box wires come through.. same theory as the telc. Give it a good old wash and the only thing that was wet was the boot floor :/ It was a bit damp before though... must be the lights.
I'll have to wait till it chucks it down again to really tell.

Door membranes can shrink or maybe damaged, missing ? Screen rubbers? As above under dash with torch, Or when it was restored maybe a bulkhead rubber grommet has not been replaced correctly? Get the seats out and get in there on your back with torch and an assistant with a hose, I found its good to be quite while doing this as you can listen as well as look, Let us know what you find? good luck
