Could be interesting this.. I've met so many folks who have made a one off tool for a particular job. I think most of us here have made something. Often very simple, sometimes very complex looking. Almost always very satisfying to have made and then used - particularly if its saved the day or made a job that was very complex into something so simple you just had to sit back and used that spare times you've created to knock back a beer or coffee, or both, and admire your brilliance. It might be so bloody amazing that it has earned a special shelf so you can wait to other folk spot it, ask " whats this?" and give you the opportunity to explain in depth how you came to make your creation. Or perhaps its actually pretty rough and curse word but did the job so well that you have stashed it away in a drawer and secretly hope you might get to use it again.. Or is so awesome you reckon you could sell them. The only tool that springs to mind in my arsenal is just a screwdriver i whipped up when I realised I could get even close to my idle control bleed screw on the throttle body after Id flipped it upside down. Its so handy it stays in the glove box. I used it today and that's what made me think of this thread. So here it is...painted red, now faded, so if I dropped it I could find it easier. So I've shown you mine.. now show me yours.

Have made odds and ends over the years, but to me the most memorable was, a length of string! I had to work on a pump over a waste water tank, anything dropped would be lost, so I tied my spanners to myself. Lots of laughter till I explained why I was walking around with half a dozen spanners clanging from my neck. Ttfn Glenn

Great thread idea. I will look around when I get home, not sure the vice bench I made last week fits into this, but loads of little tools about the garage.

I spent some of yesterday making up a little jobbit that allows me to unscrew the caps of 200l plastic barrels while there's pushfit beer lines running in through them. Well, you've got to pump your frozen-cocktail mix about somehow, haven't you?! The real tool for the job doesn't allow for the pipe, and costs about ÂŁ170!!!

This could be needed to remove the inlet manifold from my '96 Fiesta without taking the rad out. I've made lots of things over the years, like enlarging slot spanners or cutting ring spanners in half and slotting a pole over to make a low profile breaker bar,.. knocking the tip of an Allen bit out the 1/2in socket and pressing a full length ball-ended bit in to reach ridiculously positioned slot head bolts, etc. Sometimes just hammering a splined socket over a rounded/rusty nut with a bit of Kroenenbourg can for shim.. And the castle nut on the strut of '75-'94 Polos requires a special tool, or using a grinder, you finally find a use for a 14mm socket..

linklinkI made this to clamp the front shocks on my 110 and Disco so you could undo the bottom nut. I couldn't get stilsons in past the spring,so came up with this, i still have it hanging up in garage.....

A guy a work made this; It's a stihl saw spanner with the socket bit cut open, a big washer welded over the end, and the handle moved the other end. Goes in the pillar drill, and makes the best valve spring compressor ever. so, so easy.

I ended up hammering a chisel through the shock to keep it from spinning haha (was fitting a lift kit with new shocks)

Yes very impressive work indeed especially as you ended up in profit too. Do you have any build threads on the forum or elsewhere by chance? Also any pics of stuff you've formed with it?
