I've got DABs in two of my cars, but only one DAB aerial fitted and it is BAD. (see what I did there?) Are windscreen DAB aerials just garbage or have I got a lemon? It was £25 from eBay, from a guy on eBay who does loads of ICE so I thought I was buying from a good source.
If anyone has one they're getting good results with, can you tell me where you got it?
I've sort of ruled out the gadgets that let you use the existing aerial because mine are both suspect so I don't want to replace them (£80 each) and then have to put the gadget in and then maybe find that it's garbage too.

Whenever fitting DAB's I've exclusively used the Film aerials, never had one personally but from customer and friends experience the film ones are by far the best. I fitted one to adam73bgt's Saab, he might have some input on the quality?

Aye got one in the Saab (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370830974058?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT one of those but I expect it would only work with a Pioneer?..)
As for radio quality I've found it pretty decent to be honest, DAB reception can be a little patchy for some stations but other stations I've had no problem with even when out in sticks.
My parents 3 Series has factory fitted DAB and struggled with signal quite badly in general though it may be better now as the DAB infrastructure improves.. so I'm not sure how much of it comes down to the aerial and the actual hardware fitted

Cheers guys, maybe the problem I have is just with DAB rather than an aerial problem? Curtis: as a pro, would you think an Alpine stick on would be better than a generic? How about an Alpine one with an integrated amplifier? Dabonwheels sell them, they sell normal ones much cheaper too. Just wondered if it's plausible it'l make a difference.

tbh, the ones I've always used are the ones from Halfords, mainly because thats where I was fitting them The one that Adam linked should work fine too, the DAB aerial connections are made to a standard, they're all exactly the same. I found that the physical position of the aerial made a bigger difference to the quality than anything, also not sticking the copper strip properly to the body can have a negative effect. Do you have a picture of where yours is?

I forgot to get a photo last night and I've brought the wrong car with me today. To be honest, I couldn't swear to having paid much attention to sticking the copper bit onto the body so I'll be checking that later.
I've got a Halfords trade card so I'm going to get one from there either to fix the poor installation in the saloon (if that's what's happened) or to use in the SL and see if I just got a duff aerial from eBay.

Checked mine, there's no copper bit so the reception issue is probably a garbage aerial. Thanks for the advice adam73bgt and Curtis.
