Fantastic, this is what owning a retro is all about, driving something awesome day to day, I love it. Keep sharing those issues you have, they are what seperate a boring car from an interesting car! Will do - I'll try and keep my threads a bit more up to date as well. Loads of pics went missing between the last posts and the update!

This is awesome! Love seeing old US tanks being used in Blighty. Sounds like such an awesome daily - the interior looks like such a nice place to be (I bet it takes the pain out of motorway driving!) Because I gravitate towards them, I would say Cherry Bombs as I've yet to hear a car sound bad with one. They have a more 'old school', crackle sound with pop-bang on the overrun even at low speeds. Just my 2 cents I'm with you i think. Can't really go wrong in terms of making a V8 sound good, but the vids of Towncars and other Modular V8 Panther-chassis cars with cherry bombs on YouTube crackle and pop like nobody's business! If you listen to my vid on page 2 (i think) you can hear the muffled sound waiting to break free! Love using this as a daily! It's so comfortable, effortlessly torquey, and comically massive! Quick one from yesterday..

What an awesome daily! My dad recently bought this and it's amazing to drive around in: Also a '92 in FWD 4.9 flavour. As far as exhaust goes, I'm a massive fan of proper cherry bombs (as in the glasspack mufflers from the USA, not the British made back boxes from custom chrome). IMO The custom chrome ones with the tips on are great for old OHV euro stuff like mini's Fiesta's etc but his calls for a pair of long glasspacks with discrete turn down tips. A.J

That would be my Uncle who lives next door but one. He's had an Impala and two Caprice's over the years. Still got his 95 (I think) Caprice now.

Good morning, old car fans! Still dailying the big old Linc', still surprising myself that so much enjoyment can come from a slushmatic 2 tonne land yacht, and still not managed to chop the exhausts off!
There has been some progress elsewhere though!
First of all - a lucky break...
On the way home from work last week, i heard a very faint tapping sound on the roof. I only just heard it over the music, I was doing about 40mph when I lowered the window to feel the roof when the section of roof 'canvas' (and the fibreglass panel it's attached to) literally flew off and landed in my hand! Had I not decided to investigate at that point i would have lost it forever!
Ok, that wasn't exactly 'progress', but it explains why the piece of trim is missing in the following pics.

The Lincoln is hugely under-wheeled. It's bothered me since day one. The wheels don't suggest it has a big old torquey V8 under the bonnet, and they do nothing for the way it looks in general. I've looked for months and months for some suitible wheels but really struggled. I actually like the BBS wheels, but the offset is bloody atrocious. I don't know who was in charge at the time, but they failed spectacularly. Here is the main issue: "What wheels?" I hear you all exclaim in unison.. Don't worry, there are wheels attached to it, if you walk around to the side of the car and squint, there are clues that a wheel is under that arch somewhere: See? Oh sorry, I'll just walk around a bit more. I assure you, there are wheels attached (i think). Yes, there are wheels on it. I think you get the picture... The pcd is 5x114.3 (or 5x4.5) and this search brings up lots of J wheels. Mustang wheels fit, but only certain years, and even then the offset is a bit pants and needs spacers. Cut to last week, there's a Limo breaking in North Wales and I did spy, with my little eye, that it had what appeared to be an exceptionally tasty wheel attached to it: I hastily bashed out an email and recieved a reply soon after. Yes the wheels are still there. Yes i could have them. There are only 3. Wait, what?! Bah!!! I wasn't going to let a minor thing like that stop me. I went to get them as soon as I could! I'm a glass-is-half-full guy.. One day another might show up!?

Enough waffle. Pics! They were better than i imagined: Much better It has a bit of a drag stance only having 2 on, but I think it's pulling it off for now as the design is similar enough: note missing roof trim (in the boot at the moment!) I also have centre caps but no screws for them, so I'll pick some up and lob them on soon. Made up with the stance, it looks a hundred times betterer. The only unfortunate thing is the tyres aren't good enough. They've got cracks in the tread so I'm getting them swapped for my old ones today. This means going down from 225/75 15s with the white band, to 225/70 15 without. Shouldn't make a huge difference, but it'll make enough for me to have a slight pang of despair. It'll still look a hundred times betterer than it did, though.

I was tempted by them, nearly bought them actually. Unfortunately, the offset is similar to my originals. It doesn't look like it, but under the original BBS centrecaps, the mounting face is sunk well back. The design of those ebay ones would've given it a better look (more dish) but would barely have filled the arches any better. They would've helped. But not enough!

Cheers mate!
So, if anyone knows what wheels these are, where to get another (or 2 similar ones) new or used, or even has the 4th one of these in their garage (Limo came from a garage in Garston by all accounts) let me know!!

Well, I got my mate to fit my old tyres to the new wheels today. Not as good looking (predictable) as the whitebands with the taller sidewalls, but it still looks badass. Also, success in identifying the wheels! Inside one was this: Job's a goodun. I know what I'm looking for now They have a much better offset, but they're only slightly wider: They don't look quite as good without the white bands, but I'm still happy: If anyone has experience of painting their own white bands, some useful advice would be appreciated! Also, I'm gonna try and refit that roof bit tomorrow. I've also got a new chrome arch twin to go on. I bought it from the dude with the Limo as well as the wheels he's a sound bloke. He's a banger racer, but the sound type that saves trim bits and advertises cars for breaking to help people keep old stuff going. He's got Jags, Rollers, Saabs, Chevys, Capris and this Limo to send round the track... Oh, and bad news :/ On the way home from the garage the wipers stopped working.. fuse is ok, think it's either a burnt out motor or some module problem. What it definately is, is a pain in the curse word ! Fox intentional.... I'll let you know how i get round this issue... i think the Limo in North Wales is going to come in a little more useful..

Wheels look a bit like Dare RS, which may be easier for you to find. They're quite common in 5x114.3 I have a set of 17x9 and 17x10s on my is200. Look better without the centre caps I think.

Ah brill, cheers mate - I might just bit two of them. I could even get a pair of 16s and stagger them!
Had a look at the wiper problem, can't get to the bottom of it at the moment and with this cack weather it's not useable again. Doh!
