To do something a little a different to a usual pub car park meet I figured that some activity should be planned into it, in the form of a rolling road . After all, it has been quite some time since a Midlands/Warwickshire gathering last took place, with the numbers simply not being there. However, the numbers seemed to be present for the rolling road? The plan? It was fairly simple ; get everyone who comes along at their wish onto the dyno followed by a drive down some country lanes before finally having some lunch .
With me forgetting the spare battery for the phone decent shots could not be got. This was indeed a bit of a facepalm moment. That did not stop me from getting a couple of low rent phone shots however:
A lovely Minor arrived to the scene to spice things up as well as an MGB!
I did however manage to video the lot albeit a amateur effort!
Whilst the video may not look particularly thrilling it was good to see each and every one of the cars hit the dyno well and to hear the roar of the V8s as well as less 'exotic' engines ' the Moggie sounded lovely!
After this we may have taken the long way to a pub near Depper's Bridge with some hairy moments along the way. I say hairy as in referring to a copper with the blues and twos flashing the lights! All however was well.
A bite and a rest later it was time to say our farewells and head back. That was not before the pub gave a group shout of all:
What was what with the day? Firstly all of the cars seemed to be behaving relatively well. If there were prizes to be awarded for the day it would have gone as the following:
adam73bgt ; most powerful car of the day @220bhp
sowen ; smokiest run of the day throughout the dyno range closely followed by Adam .
task ; Loudest V8 ; Simon's did sound lovely mind you!
dan ; Bringing a Moggie down that is cooler than the dog's danglies
curtis; Lowest car there
Finally, many thanks to all who turned up and helped make the day what it was! Of course a thanks must go out to Jim the dyno man for allowing us to use the dyno in addition to giving us all of the time as to what was going on with the place .
