I asked a local sign writing company about doing some but they weren't all that keen firing up the printer for a couple of plates. They do whole cars normally. Getting the printing done isn't the whole problem, you still need the correct reflective backing and the actual perspex. The font was very similar to what is available now on modern cars just a bit wider. I think there was also some variations by different companies, one of those was Serick. Because it didn't really matter I went to Halfords in the end and got some made. They at least only have a very feint postcode on them and were fine once they had tried a couple of times !

Just dug out the VAG service centre list from my 90 rocco, (in the lovely Grey faux leather service folder/document holder). The dealer listed in Exeter is Mann Eggerton, Polsloe Bridge, Pinhoe Bridge, 0392 215151 (unless it was sold by Saville Tractors Ltd...) All the books documents etc have that late 80's early 90's Vw 'bubble' font though that seems to have been the corporate font of the time. Also whilst furtling about on t'web I found this place www.dmb.uk.com/cat/122/dealer-setsThey have a set for my local dealer (Barnet & Small)but that look early 80's. As for font the first two are from the 1990 rocco and the last is an 82 golf. Jp

I tried to contact the original dealer for my car (the mk2 cavalier in my profile) for the same purpose of requesting stickers and any info etc. I had the faded ones in the car so knew the dealer was Shaw & Kilburn from Luton who were involved in Dealer Team Vauxhall rally cars back in the day. The car also had registration of RBH which was used on some cars registered to Vauxhall, although not always the case, so I thought it may have been used for photos / press etc. Unfortunately the dealer is now run by Evans Halshaw and all old records have been lost so it came to nothing and I was none the wiser.
Issues with the roof rotting eventually put paid to the car so interesting early days or not I scrapped it but engine and gearbox amongst other bits are in my current Cavalier.
