Have a look at nankang ns2r's, they are cheap, sticky and are renowned for having very stiff sidewalls :-)

Yeah, I think I saw some of these pics already. What do those wheels weigh? OZ makes Ultraleggeras with proper ET for the Xantia, or atleast they used to make them. I had 16" ones on my previous Activa. They're pretty light. And how much is the Quaife with the group buy?

Blown_Imp: Thanks! I run an XM as a daily as well, to make sure I get enough hydraulics Nankangs will be checked out! Koukko: I haven't put them on scales, but they're not lightweight by any means. I will check out Superleggeras when I get closer to running the car. The Quaife would end up somewhere between GBP 900 and 1300. In other news, the car got a little bit lighter yesterday ... Picked up some fairly large front brake calipers today ... So, I need to figure out whether gaskets and other parts can handle mineral oils before I can use them on the car.

I wonder if those are the same as 406 V6 Brembos? If so they should be a bolt on mod. I had those bought for my previous V6 Activa, but sold the car before fitting them. And never found out if the gaskets hold LHM. If you strip the calipers and put the gaskets in jar with LHM for a few weeks you should have your answer. Looks like the stripping is going nicely. Did you take the heater matrix out too? Probably no need for it unless you're planning to run on ice tracks... That car had leather interior? Would you be willing to sell those door cards?

I don't think they are the same, the pads seems to be a few millimeters bigger on the C8 than on the 406 V6. The 607 V6 seems to be the same as the C8, though. And you have a PM Yes, regarding stripping ... It's going really well! IMG_1871 by Fredrik Henriksson, on Flickr

C2 R2's used the lug mounted 406 alloy brembo caliper with a 283mm cast steel disc for gravel use under 15"s, the Tarmac spec was the 807/c8 V6 magnesium Radial brembos on a 310mm ish belled floating disc.

So, there are actually parts on my car with a racing/rally pedigree? Cool! I'm battling on many fronts here, most of all I'm currently battling a cold so no real progress in the garage ... Instead, I grabbed my pens and went to the Garrett homepage, and worked both with the equations and the Boost Advicer app to look for turbo upgrades. With the equations (http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/choosing_turbo), I went for: *Power target: 275 horsepower *AFR: 22 *BSFC: 0.38 *T_m: 130 degrees Fahrenheit *VE: 98% *N: 6000 rpm *V_d: 122 ci (2.0 liters) With these numbers, I end up with Wa of 38.3 lb/min and pressure ratio of 2.02. This seems to be out of range for many turbos, I think the air flow is too high compared to the pressure ratio. But is there something in my numbers that seems off? With the Boost Advicer, I went for 250hp and mid range 3000rpm / top range 6000 rpm. This gave me: Turbo_suggestion_by_garrett by Fredrik Henriksson, on Flickr And, "No turbochargers fit your application". I guess that I have messed something up, but what?

But those calculations are for a diesel engine right?
Based on my experience, I would use a Mitsubishi TD04-18 or 19 on your engine. Should give good spool and make the power you want.

VE (volumetric efficiency) is how well the cylinders are filling as a percentage, and coincides with the rpm the engine is making the most torque (numerically) even in turbo engines this will be 3000-4000rpm in road tune. to have 100% VE at 6krpm would take some serious numbers bhp on the other hand is greatest when torque or cylinder filling are dropping off, and usually happens at 70 to 80% of the max torque figure (sounds odd, but bhp or work is a function of revs and torque, so engine output still goes up because revs are going up)

I would have thought that it's a pretty nice 2-litre 16v engine?
I have used a TD04-16t on my 2-litre Pinto earlier, it was a great turbo for that engine but I'm not sure i had 250-275 honest bhp (even at 1.2 bar), that's why I suggested a slightly larger turbo (but still with a pretty small exhaust housing).

The turbo engine is an 8-valver, but yes petrol and 2-liter. I might just have messed up my numbers ... Thanks for the feedback!
