So the past few weeks have been garbage.

Just when I thought I was making some real progress the Green Goblin got nicked. I wont go into the full diatribe of that here (it feels like I have told that story about 50 times now), suffice to say it got stolen and its gone. Insurance, done.
So I got to the same place I wanted when I put the Scoob up for sale, just in a messy stressful way. I've been wanting to be able to shift stuff- big stuff- legally and with no financial strain. This:

...needs a proper support vehicle. I needed something that could haul, and the shortlist of cars looked like this:
Toyota Surf
Hilux
Isuzu Trooper
Shogun/Pajero
Problem with the Surf was, as much as i loved em they never seem to do them in Manual. the remit had to be 2.5 diesel and manual, so it did reduce likely candidates considerably. In the end, I plumped for this:
A mighty Shogun, in 2.8 diesel and manual flavour. took me long enough, and far enough, to get it. I think this was car 7 we viewed, and was in West Yorkshire. Ugh.
All the 90s J tat of the day, as you would expect. Wide arch model, curious split rim alloys no one has ever heard of, overspats on the wings....
But thankfully very little rust. There are mild bits that I promise, I will address post haste. Chassis is pretty solid though. Underseal needed all the same... and yes I do need a ladder to wash the roof.
So, how does it drive? Well, 200 miles from West Yorkshire to Ayr. Faultless.
All the little trinkets do what they should, apart from some aftermarket satnav which will be ripped out sharp. It has all the elec toys, including a huge electric sunroof and must crucially - working cruise control! In fact, other than a dodgy battery that meant we never turned it off until Ayr, it was by far the most stress free trip up the M6 I may have ever had!
So... plans? Well, it got a new battery as even after a 3 hour drive the original one had no guts to even crank it. Fairly standard and to be expected on a car thats been stood up. On that note, all 4 tires despite mountains of tread are goosed. Cracks in the tread base, so 4 replacements have been ordered for this Friday - Toyos no less!
Other than that, extracting the rats nest of aftermarket curse word, sorting the sound system (some long journeys will be done in this, it needs to entertain) and a rigorous service plan is all she needs!
