Hello, I'm Hannah & recently I purchased a Mk2 Polo BreadVan, 1990 1.0L 4 speed! Needs a little body work attention, drivers side rear panel has been repaired poorly ( a fair bit of filler =[ ) , Passenger side arch has also been poorly repaired & the passenger doors a plate welding over on the bottom corner, but to be honest, all of this isn't actually that noticeable from a far XD So thats the first job on the list! Given it a good machine polish, made a massive difference. Hoping to come along to a few vw meets, must admit though havn't seen many breadvans about!

Ah that looks pretty tidy. Like the blue too. Great cars these, I used to have a silver 1.0 Country model. So much boot space, great engines and a hoot to drive. They really don't seem particularly popular with the typical vw fan boys, but there is a following for them.

Never owned one, but always had a soft spot for them! I'll have to get one before prices go up too much...
What's in store for it?

Sometimes, others may not understand why you like a car so much. Sometimes, you may not even understand why you like a car so much. But none of that matters; all that matters is that you like the car, and having it makes you happy.

Do it! I reckon their going to be something rather special in a few years... Well as i said before body work is first on the list end of =] Then possibly put it on some lower springs ( que the hate? ) there are also some clear lensed head lights, possibly the mk1 golf front bumper with the chrome inserts, few other little bits here & there but nothing major =]

Wow been a while since I was last on here. The Breadvan has changed a fair bit since! So shes since been to the body shop & had the worst of the body work sorted, single headlamp grille, the usual fuel tank replaced, cambelt, plugs, boring service tack... Lowering springs originally, with the fronts chopped, however I still wasn't happy & managed to get hold of some super condition coilovers to satisfy my low needs ! So the first look was this... Body work is so much better now & I fell in love with these moon disc wheel trims, not to everyones taste, but a cheap way of changing the appurtenance, this was until one of the front calipers got stuck on & got that hot it melted one of the trims....not good. So second look was this... Original steels sprayed & white wall inserts added. Looking super smart at this point but after about 2-3 weeks the inserts had stained, which wouldn't come off, I contacted the supplier who fed me some rubbish that this happens when you put them on new tyres! So they had to come off... Thats how she stayed for the remainder of 2016. Got a bit to get done before Ultimate Dubs in March, Body shop, wheels & Manifold, not too much but enough!

Like this, was offers one of these way back in 98 by a family friend, it had been sat on her drive for a few months with a blown head gasket, but I blew it off as a crappy old polo it got scraped in the end I like the look of yours lowered and the moon discs,

Ah the old navy blue breadvan. Had one exactly the same about 20 years ago. Great wee machines but watch for head gaskets. I left a white smoke trail a mile long when mine went. Love the moon disks. Theres a picture of my old one on my cars history thread. Good luck with it.

Nice breadvan, Hannah. What are these chrome wheels? Look like Appliance Industries? Had a set of those myself and no chance of ever getting them street legal over here in Germany. Sold to someone on here and never heard from him again. He was going to put them on a jetta IIRC, wonder if he sold them on to you? Can´t be around a lot of them?! I think they're probably the same as mine made by Extreme Offset Wheels

Hey man, they are indeed & sounds like I bought them off the chap you sold them to! I've got some chrome genuine VW centre caps to go on, just in the process of sussing how to get them to fit on I seriously need to update with some photo's on here, I'll get on it at the weekend

Looked up my pms, chvrlie was the name. One of your rims should have a tiny dent in the edge? Here´s the sales thread from back then, unfortuantely few pics gone lost: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/170450/appliance-industries-chrome-steelies-smoothies?page=2and here´s what I planned to add: If these are your centre caps (of mk1+2 passats and golfs), I can give you some advice how to fit them. As soon as I get back later I'll send the pictures of the caps I'm putting on dude, their a super wheels, can't wait to get them on !
