Dyno to alternator conversion HELP!!!

Hi

Help needed urgently as I was meant to go to wales on holiday this week but the dyno on my minx has packed up

I've fitted an alternator from a Hunter engine I had lying aroung but am now stuck as to what wires to connect where....

The minx has two wires 'D' and 'F'and a voltage regulator control box...

The Hunter alternator has three wires, positive, charge indicator light, and (what I presume is) earth?

What do I do? Hoping to have it sorted asap! Any help appreciated

you don't need any of the voltage regulator gubbins at all seeing as that's what is contained on the back of the alternator, the only bit I'm unsure about is whether you would just connect the warning lamp wire straight to the alternator.

Hi, disconnect the battery, remove dynamo, fit alternator. At the alternator put the big/brown wire on the big terminal, put the small wire on the small terminal, the third small terminal is probably for the tacho feed so ignore. At the regulator, join the two big wires on terminals 'B' and 'D' together, then join the two small wires on 'F' and 'WL' together. Reconnect the battery, Done.

The dynamo produces 22 amps, the alternator will produce at least 35 amps depending which one you have, so it would be prudent to run a second big wire from the big terminal on the alternator to the battery.
