The back window split like yours which is very common. Very easy to fix though just drill out the rivets and replace and re-rivet. Took me about an hour and a bit to do. I'd recommend getting the wings off asap as they hide the rot something awful so nip it in the bud asap The window is going to be fixed with a bit of "Gorilla Tape" for the moment. If the car makes the cut it will be replaced. Same with the wings really. Everything is banking on the engine not being borked. Once I find that out and sort the running problems I plan on working through the car as a rolling restomod project. Check the wiring from the ECU to the coil packs; it lays on the head and the wiring and plugs can get crispy or even come adrift from the socket. I had one plug pop off on the R75 and that caused a very bad misfire; also check the coil packs are fitted correctly (should be 1 & 3 and 2 & 4). If not you will get half power... Its supposedly had that checked, but once I get a multi meter I'm going to check that for myself as well. The connectors used aren't the best, I'm in the process of replacing my ECU plug and socket with new items as I get a different running problem every time I wiggle the plug. I'm running a kit car with a rear mounted K series just for extra fun, if you do end up taking the head off make sure you fit a decent MLS gasket, new head bolts and a water pump. I'll put that on the list. If I take the head off I was planning on an MLS head gasket. Was also thinking about fitting the Land Rover spreader plate thing. Whats your opinion on that fix? It can't hurt but opinions appear split on whether it is vital. If I was having the engine out again I'd probably fit one.

The MLS gasket only really works if the liners are still within spec of standing proud of the block; if they aren't, then a proper OEM gasket is the way forward. If you do go MLS and LR oil rail, it should make the engine good enough to take any abuse you throw at it (I got told off for saying giving an engine a good soleing 'abuse'...)
Once you have sorted the misfire, go through the cooling system with a fine tooth comb. For a mid-engined car it has a low capacity (10.5L) and has to work hard for a living so make sure there are no leaks and the radiator is in good fettle - alloy cored direct replacements are not that expensive and easy to fit.

Cheers for the advise guys. Once the engine is running fine my first port of call is the cooling system!
I want this thing mechanically A* so it can take a good flannelling and some track days.

Real shame that, I will admit I've been watching these for around two years, I like these and may well take a dip into mgf ownership before they go mental in price.... And without a doubt they will.. Hope you have a go at repairing it?

Its on ebay. I've had some interest already.
It'll be replaced with another. I'll just take a bit more time and find a really good one next.

If those 2 cylinders did have 0 compression the fault would be a lot more than a lumpy idle, as you sure the tester worked correctly? Those plugs look like they have been steam cleaned so probably is a fault on it somewhere, I would risk £12 for a bottle of K seal and see what happens

Worth selling the splitter separately? *n Waaaaaaaay ahead of you. Splitter and wind deflector have been taken off for the next one If those 2 cylinders did have 0 compression the fault would be a lot more than a lumpy idle, as you sure the tester worked correctly? Those plugs look like they have been steam cleaned so probably is a fault on it somewhere, I would risk £12 for a bottle of K seal and see what happens Won't idle, just dies so I'd have to sit trying to keep it running for the 30mins the K seal takes! I'm too lazy than that. Going back to original plan of looking for a good in I can just use.
