On my way home from work last night i was overtaken by an Aston Martin Vantage. Cool i thought!
He then momentarily lost concentration (i assume) touched the gravel / grass that lines the Lincolnshire twisties that make up my route home, spitting up a fair size rock that put a mahoooosive chip in my windscreen.
Started to flash him, he pulled over, we exchanged mobile numbers and he said he would gladly cover my windscreen cover excess. I said i'm happy at that as long as it doesnt affect my no claims.
Not the most dazzling of anecdotes, but it broke up my normal commute!

most policies keep screen claims separate. for example i'm with heritage andf its one off £90 for any glazing issues. to be honest, thats very decent for the owner becuase its not really his fault.....scren chips are pretty random acts and common

Had a stone fly up from a lorry on A12 yesterday travelling about 60 mph. End of the day the windscreen did its job and whilst the glass as a small bullet hole shape crack the stone could have come through with unimaginable costs so whatever the cost on insurance excess I'm not unhappy at all

Yeah that was good of him tbh.
I was actually quite happy when mine got cracked as it was so badly scratched I wanted a new one anyway lol.

Fair play to the bloke for offering that. To be fair guys, i wasn't entirely convinced what was going to happen when he pulled over - he was also one hell of a unit when he extracted himself from the Aston and reached full height - but i was polite and as apolagetic as i could be. If it was just from normal road driving (which has happened to me twice before) i wouldnt have even flashed him, but as he went onto the grass and gravel, effectively leaving the road and causing it; I thought i'd recieved the smelly end of the stick! Nice guy all the same

Never had a premium go up for a screen replacement....ever.... Me neither. I've had to have a tailgate glass replaced and a side window on seperate cars and it hasn't affected the price of my renewal.
