I've considered that maybe it's time to move Herman on. Problem is, I have no idea what he's worth.
Herman is a 1998 BMW E38 728i, I bought it in Feb 2014 with 56,771 miles on it, and its now on 76,000. From Feb - August 2014, it was doing 500 miles every weekend, without fail, returning mid 30's MPG reliably and being an excellent place to be. I got married in Aug '14 (he was the wedding car!), the wife moved down with me and now Herman only does 3 miles a day, and I feel its time to let someone else enjoy him.
He's got MOT until 2/1/16, last one was a first-time clean pass, got the usual pixel loss, the temperature gauge doesn't work (but the dashboard diagnostics mode works and shows the temperature is rock steady), small scrape on sill, but the biggest fault is in the drivers' side paintwork, where the lacquer has crazed and the are a couple of small dinks in the driver door. I would say he needs a respray on the drivers side if you were being fussy. Mechanically, Herman is absolutely perfect in every way.
The underside defies belief, the entire car is completely rust-free and he comes with a spare set of alloy wheels for refurb/winter tyres.
If you (or anyone else) are interested, PM me.
