I'm planning on getting some steels banded for my Senator daily driver soon. I was going to get some 15's done however some 16" 5 stud vaux steelies have come up on the bay from a modern Vectra C. Would 16x9.5 steelies look yay or ghey? They are close to me and not at stupid money at the moment. Hmmmmmmm However, I already have a load of 15s sat there doing nothing that arent going to cost me any extra time or money. Any help?

Not getting done until post Billing (July 7th) but rest assured Ill post pics when I get them done. Got a couple of leads (ok 2) on people to band them as well. Favourite at the moment is a chap in Slough who has done a lot on a classic fords forum... will wait to see his workmanship in the flesh first though! Pog... think thats too much? probably only on the rears! Pretty sure you can get Lotus Carlton rims on the back of a senny and they are 9.5

Hi Colonel, banded steels will look great on a Senny IMHO. I'd go with the 15". The higher profile tyres will look more period, plus they wont hurt the ride too much. Who's doing the banding and what sort of cost have you been quoted? I'd like to get a set of MK1 wheels banded out to 7" in order to preserve the original looks but with 205 tyres for a bit more wet grip. This is a standard mk1 rim and I want to keep the stainless trim rings. I think they would cool, but then I like the sleeper look.

I have a set of those steels I may be able to let you have in the not so distant future chap if you don't want to risk the ones on there Been quoted in the region of £30 a rim I think, have specifically not got the guys contact details as the chap who knows him says he hates being messed around and I don't want to contact until I have the cash in my hands, the rims with no tyres and an idea what width I want! Can find out for you if you want though

Yeah, a spare set of rims would be a big help, Mr C. £30 a wheel doesn't sound bad if he does a decent job and they balance up OK. Do they come painted at that price,do you know? If you let me know how much you want for the rims I could give you the cash at Billing. Talking about Billing, will you be with the TC guys? I'll be there early on Sunday so finding out which entrance to use would be helpful as I've never been to the show before and I think they would like to get my car in the line up photo. Regards.
