Cheers guys, yeah you're pretty much spot on. I want it to be a fast road/track car, a bit like my Volvo only lighter and more power and fully stripped out. The inner wings aren't too bad, I think the floor inside is the worse thing to tackle due to its shape. The bit I've just been doing is alsorts of shapes and its resulted in my finished work not looking great but I know its very strong. Had to bash down the panel alot to get it to meet the chassis etc so it looks all shapes but atleast I know its strong. Will upload pics soon.

When putting new floor pans in my escorts about 15 years ago I made the same mistake. Welded the edges then had to beat curse word out of them so I could weld them to the chassis rails. Lesson learned. Nice to see some progress.

Thanks to Mo from Superstyle garage for the bootlid and for posting it safely it's always strange seeing stuff you see in real life appear somewhere else on the internet - i looked at that tailgate sat on top of momanatorz starlet for almost 2 years until he moved to pastures new

Always good to see things being recycled too though as appose to scrapping stuff.

I'll carry on elsewhere on the car and come back to that bit if I'm not happy overall

Wow, you really....err....wanted that to fit lol
Meh. It'll have a floor mat over it anyway right? At least your getting stuck in, and as you say, you can always cut it out and redo it once you are more confident with the metal bashing.
I'm enjoying the thread, keep it up

Got carried away and things looked normal while I was doing it, soon as I took a break and came back I was like "hmmm that looks a bit curse word, does the job but looks curse word". So like you say, I may come back to it and thanks mate, appreciate it Slight update from last night Bit where the passengers would be. Managed to do a nice job of shaping the metal this time and maintaining the strength. Bootlid my dad treated me to that he spotted on ebay incase I don't go with the fibreglass. AND new old stock rear panel to make life so much easier. Cost me a bit being such a rare item but will make things so much better. There's currently a D/S/R quarter panel on ebay at £600, wouldn't mind that but at atleast half the price lol Then just to remake that rear lower panel So far so good

Cool, nice to know of someone local on here And yeah my dad loves that think, it's my mums daily and dads weekend sleeper. It's pretty quick to be fair, he's just fitted Impreza seats and customised the steering column to stick out more and it feels like my Volvo to sit in haha! My Volvo has Subaru seats and is dead low! My mate has a Volvo too, his is more rusty though I used to work in Motorworld in flint so you may have saw me back and from there Just looked on your profile, got a Subaru Brat? Dewi from Baggilt car spares has one too! Rare now

Yeah I've got a Brat, bit of a basket case but will be rebuilt slowly once I've got my other projects out of the way - its quite an early MK2 so worth saving imho!! Is Dewi's cream? If it is I've been following his thread on the MV Brumby Brat forum!

Nice save especially on a car with some history. Looking forward to seeing how the build progresses and your drivetrain choice.

Some more rust killing... I hate how ugly mig looks on pictures but this was actually a really nice job, quite happy with it! In other news I'm pretty sure I'm heading towards Honda S2000 power again (I had a couple of weeks where I was quite convinced about mx5 power) I've always wanted it tobe s2000 power so I'm just gonna go all out regardless of how long it takes to save up the money bits I need. Made a start with some of my savings and I've bought a 105e Anglia rear axle which I hope to 4 link, coilover and fit an LSD Been told they're the stronger ones besides an atlas, they're light and I paid a decent price IMO. Loving doing the Starlet so far. Thanks for all the kind words too people, keeps me motivated!

Looks like you are getting on well, let me know if you ever come across a cheap BMW 2.8 engine that isnt using a load of oil local. I am probably pretty close living at the top end of Connahs Quay after the mini roundabout at the top of mold road!
