Hi there
Would any of you guys have experience in exchanging the LT77 rover box with the 380?
I'm asking because the LT77 rwd box that is fitted to my Jaguar xj6 is done for. I could probably get it reconditioned. But the 380 has a better reputation. I need to know weather a 380 will fit my bell housing and the shifter mechanism from my LT77 And if the input shaft (don't know the right word in English) Has the same dimension's on the LT77 and 380.
(my google foo is not with me on this one)

They aren't exactly a direct swap, the R380 is a little bit bigger and may need work to fit. I think I have photos and dimensions comparing the two that I can find later?

If the input shaft and the overall length of the box is different then I wont bother. Then it's better to try and find a new LT77 or get the old one reconditioned (new input bearing and oil pump) It's more plug and play!

From my memory the main differences are the input shaft is approximately 10mm longer and the gear selector is mounted approximately 25mm further back. The output flange is the same distance from the front face of the gearbox, and has a different mount on the back.
I've made a bellhousing spacer for my replacement R380 gearbox going into my SD1 with Rover V8 and shortened the gear selector to suit.
