OK, I'm feeling cheap, rwd goodness. I'm thinking Mk5 Cortina But they just lack quite the same appeal as a Mk3 or even Mk4 does despite being mostyl the same car. So letrs have some inspiration... Doesn't help that many of the modified ones I've seen over the years have been a bit "chavved up" Here's what Google can do for me... Who's got some stuff stashed for me to see. erm... Oh dear, oh dear... Ah, thats more like it. Nice colour. I think. Yee-fookin-haw! Now I want one.... Its those wheels again? TSW Blades? Heh heh heh Ah, yes, but a tricky look to pull off on a daily driver... The Cortina Interceptor, apparently. track weapon... Him again... Ooh, cripes!

They get prettier everyday IMO, so different to other tat on the roads. stock GL example, on the floor, wide dart boards, spiced pinto?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

stock GL example, on the floor, wide dart boards, spiced pinto? looks nicer than the one I'm looking at. But the same colour. I had the same thoughts you did. Doesn't seem like anyones done it yet. For some reason Mk5s seem to be cursed with RGA grills, Hella aux lights and rear window louvres.

I remember them being £100 with no MOT and £250 with an MOT in the days where there were still examples in the local paper, but eBay suggests £500 for something MOT'd and worth having or £800ish for a pretty mint one. I've seen people asking 4 figures for them, no idea if they fetch that though.

Oh dear, this doesn't help me at all ;D
I've been watching a few on ebay recently, closest to me was a black Mk4 2.3 Ghia, no t+t though and needed a bit more bodywork than it appeared.
I agree that they always seemed to get badly modified as such with loads of plastic extras thrown on to them. I had a late Mk5 some years ago and it was a great car, sadly just a bit too rusty to keep for long. Only mods I did were the fitting of a set of those really dished Ford sport steelies from a Capri. Smoothed and slammed sounds like a good plan on these cars, they are a good enough shape to not need anything added to spoil this.

I had a red 2.0GL estate like the one above, one owner from new (though from the smell inside I reckon he must have smoked 1.3m Woodbines a day, the registration was PON661Y which rapidly earned it the name 'Pongy') who had added a million useless bits of tat to it causing me and my mates no end of amusement.
It had two alarm systems, a radio/cassette AND a CD/radio, all wired to separate speakers so you could play different stuff on them at the same time, a reverse bleeper (I kid you not), SIX extra fog lights on the back and another four on the front, a roofrack and enough spares in the back to build half another Cortina (I still have a boxful of brand new Mk5 bits if anyone's interested).
I paid £350 for it in early 2004, added 5k in four months to the 140k it had already done and blew it up on the M5. SWMBO absolutely hated it, gave me no end of grief for having it parked up on the drive, so after endless timewasters via various Ford forums I let the local scrappers have it for £50.
Wasn't a bad old tub even if it drank petrol like a Zodiac.

I love MKIII+ Cortinas.
I had a (MKIVs), 1.6GL, 1.6 Crusader estate, 2.0 GL, and two two door MKIIIs.
Those Taunus' are interesting. Not sure if I like the coupe mind you.
