What compressor for painting & stone chipping and air tools?

Dumb question, but after of doing plenty of reading on the net I'm still struggling to work out what I need.

I want a compressor so that I can run a random orbit sander, and small grinder. I also want to paint primer and stone chip. I only have single phase electrics though. So far the biggest compressor I've seen that's single phase is a 3hp with 150 litre tank. Will this be big enough to do what I want and does anyone have any recommendations or personal experience?

I've seen this on ebay but never heard of American Technology?

You'll need plenty of CFM for painting There's nothing worse than stopping half way through a panel having to wait for the comp to catch up

I run single phase 150L Clarke industrial model giving approx 14CFM and still lose pressure when using blast cabinet. The motor is on constantly to keep pace but it does the job slowly.... It's ok for everything else tho'

Also go for large bore supply pipes. Things like impact buzz guns make all the noise on small diameter tubing but don't have the balls behind the noise. Increase bore of supply and same gun will work as intended

Depends on what you're intending to use the comp for. Big tank is only as good as the pressure it's holding if the pump can't keep up

Sander will mean you require a larger compressor than you'd expect just to have enough puff to run that as they are very thirsty. Far better to take sander out of the equation and get an electric version. Same with grinder - angle type use large quantities of air but a die grinder for short period not too bad.
Personally I have a 100 ltr belt drive / 3 hp ABAC and can fully recommend them. Probably double the cost of a similar spec Clarke but it's a case of getting what you pay for
