Well ive owned a ford probe for a number of years (see build thread retrorides.proboards.com/thread/176266/1995-ford-probe-24v)
About a year or so ago i bought another complete car in black for some bits and pieces but it was quite tidy so i mot'd it and then within 3 weeks the dizzy, alternator and something else shat itself so i parked it up and started selling bits off it not really knowing what to do with it.
That was until a free gift was delivered:
Its a solid 2.0 twin cam shell with no welding but a bit battered on the top so figured the entire floor pan could be transferred over onto the spare probe.
The plan - take the full floor, inner wings and lower half of the bulk head off the sierra and put into the probe.
This way it should run almost entirely on standard Sierra parts, making my life easier.
Basic measurements added up:
With only 5mm difference on the length and the probe being a bit wider this should work.
So the hunt was on for a fabricator to do the swap as I'm not a big fan of the whole cutting, grinding and welding plus didnt really have much experience with that side of things.
Anyways the current status is that i have found a guy on the same industrial estate as my unit who going to start the job this week.
I spent last weekend stripping the sierra to a rolling shell (there is nothing worth selling off it)
Once the two are one i will then continue with building the car back up, and organize the paint work to be done.
i would love to run a YB in this but if funds don't allow at that time (which is a fair while away) then a v6 BOA cosworth maybe used a temporary measure.
Lots of parts still to source but having owned a saph cosworth a few years back i still have some good contacts
