Well I thought I better start a thread for this one aswell, as it will be taking most of my time. 325TDS, with just under 200,000 miles, so just about run in. Its got coilovers already. M3 staggered alloys (these will be going, not my thing) Straight through exhaust and an end tuning chip. It needs rear wheel bearings and some other bits fixing to make it a goodun. And the power plant. Its a bit tatty and rough, but no major dents that i can see, interior will shine up nicely as will the engine bay, and apart from the bearings, it drives spot on. Lots of power and nice and steady. More on this soon. Mark

I'm glad you got on here, you'll like it. Hopefully make a start on the bearings tonight or tomorrow. My bearing draw kit came today, pretty good looking bit of kit and ive borrowed a hefty slide hammer from a mate (hes on here but doesnt post, he knows who he is), and ive already got the bearings ready.
And yes, 6 months ago i wouldnt even look at a 4 door, but it being a diesel makes more sense to me for having 4, for some strange reason.

I like it just as it sits! Looks like a 4 door M3. I would just add a few engine goodies and be set!

Well ill probably be taking the headlamp washers out, just to simplify things, its got a washer fluid leak around that area. It is a very good start I think. If its as good on fuel as I'm hoping then it'll take daily duties from my 306.

I have no idea on the veg oil, isnt it just a seals issue. Made a start on the rear bearings tonight. Got the necessary tools to do the job. All apart from the the E12 socket needed for the driveshaft annoyingly. But i persevered and after many drawing and sliding and hammering i got the hub off That bearing has clearly had it. Need to get the E12 socket and take the driveshaft and the rest should be easy. Also while i was under there i had a good look. Brakes look good to me (apart from the discs), car came with rear shocks and springs, again these don't look to hard to change.

Had another go at the bearings today. With daylight its alot easier. Firstly got the E12 socket and took the driveshaft out of the way. Had to drop the exhaust off its hangers to get the movement and move the sway bar about. Draw the bearing out. Very easy after you realise you need the next size down draw. So i got both out and went to refit the new ones. Obviously they sent the wrong size bearings so i have to wait for the correct ones now. Also changed the springs whilst i was there, took all of about 3 mins per side. The shocks on the other hand, the interior gets in the way, and i managed to brake it in a few places, but they're in. Should sit alot lower at the rear now. I also saw some yellow crayon on the rear lines, so i know where the issues are now. Washers were not working and leaking out of the front. I'm not going to use the headlamp washers so ill just block that motor off (no more leaks) and i saw that the hose for the washer jets was kinked, take the kink out and all is good. But the washers are pointing in all directions.

That looks like a pretty decent example, especially considering the mileage - certainly worth the effort.
Where did the bearing puller set come from - never seen them for sale on this side of the Atlantic......

I remember the 2.5 TDS unit being introduced, and I believe reading about a works driver getting nicked for speeding testing his new company runaround out. Performance diesels are common today but in the 90s this was a milestone car. Quite fancy a 325 TDS wagon, would be a formidable retro load lugger.
Yours looks good for a 200k car, that'll make a superb daily.

Got the correct bearings and pressed them in yesterday (realising i used the inner race to do so, but they turned out fine) Then got it all back together and went to investigate the brake hose issue. So 2 new flexis on order and somee pipe needs making, ill do both sides. Then its just headlight tweaks and i can get him MOT'd Also looks like the alternator belt is either very very stretched or the tensioner is deas, annoyingly its not just a castle nut or a threaded bar but a tiny gas strut. I may have to improvise as the real thing it £40

Awesome. I'm hoping to enjoy it soon.
Sorted the headlight. And side lights. Needed new bulbs and wiring putting back to normal.
I got the rear flexis ready today. And cut out the rotten metal on the brake pipes. But couldn't get the new stuff on because I couldn't find the flare tool or the fittings.
A new alternator belt has been ordered as has the oil filter housing gasket. From ebay and I'm almost certain its going to be the wrong one.
No photos sorry as its dark and getting ridiculous now.
