So a bit of a back story...
When I bought my 944 the hatch didnt work but the sunroof did. I found the problem to be a blown fuse and this fixed everything. Everything worked for a few months then one day out of nowhere a problem with the hatch developed. The switch wasnt 'latching', and was only turning the motor for as long as my finger was held on the boot hatch release switch. With a press, the motor should do a full rotation in order to let it lock once it is reclosed.
Then a few weeks later, the sunroof decided to stop working. Strange one I thought. All of the fuses were fine so I figured a relay had gone. I bought a whole set of sunroof relays from someone on here and this sorted the sunroof as well as fixing the boot hatch button, however the next day I got the exact same problem as before.
I tried many things and the other day I found a wire worn to the copper coming from the sunroof motor. Literally all I did at this point is tape the wire up, put a new fuse in position #1 (controls the sunroof and hatch circuit) and everything started working again. Once again though, about 3 hours later it all stopped again.
What exactly is going on here? getting quite frustrated fixing it and then finding out its all failed. Not wanting to sell it with this issue either (thats if I sell it after all). But yeah getting really hacked off here. There is no apparent bad wiring to either the switch, hatch of motor. All of the relays are fine and the fuses are okay (because they both occasionally work). The limit switches for the roof are all set correctly.
The car is a 1986 944 lux.
