So as one or two of you might know me and Lauren are actually a 3 Capri family. This is rather silly in many ways, though at least they're all different (being Mk1, 2 and 3 models), but it's 'logical' because the Mk3 was only ever bought to finish off and move on to a home that has the time to enjoy it properly. It's a very unfinished project, a Mk3 2.8i - rough but not bad (for and old Ford....). It's been laid up for years, and it's about time it was back on the road. Might get a photo at some point, it's basically a rolling shell so not a lot to see. Welding has started though. But this isn't a build thread, oh no, this is a what colour should I paint it poll. Basically it's going to need a fresh coat of paint and since the money from the sale will be used to pay for a kitchen, maximising of sale price would be quite useful. (yes I'm lucky enough to have a wife who understands and agrees with the man maths that project cars are better than bank loans, in fact she bought this thing not me! - someone once said to me that blessings and curses can be quite similar sometimes ). This really is a bit of fun, a musings thread if you like. Pointless, maybe, but when has that ever stopped us. Though if someone come up with a really cool, simple look, there's a good chance we'll actually make it a reality So the basic question is What colour would you pay the most for? You get 3 votes each. Rules are simple, - It must be a solid colour (can't be bothered with lacquering)
- No 2 tone (I never liked 2 tone on a Capri)
- It must have been available on a Mk3 Capri (it's a 1983, but the 70's colours are a bit more fun)
Addition of stipes etc. is allowed, but you need image based proof if I'm going to believe you The colours I know of are in the poll, examples below. Since we all love photos, I'm all for people posting cool cars within the above rule set so get posting Currently something like this Signal Orange one is winning in my mind Now get voting (and making comments on how I'm an idiot, that I should have the Mk1 finished by now, and who needs a nice kitchen anyway.... )

Oh and my current option 2 is something I keep walking past at work and just love (except for the red carbon....) Thinking solid grey with some primary colour detailing or something might work really nicely - thoughts?

Ludicrous question.... What colour would I pay the most for? ?? Non I buy cars as a package and colour is not a priority.... So you cant be arsed to either do the research or even think about it yourself....... And all so you can get a cheep kitchen??? What a neck some people seriously...........

My vote (nomination) very firmly ticks this box and is also a Ford colour which in my opinion is currently one of the best colours out there. Cool, retro and also contemporary too. Ford Storm Grey. Sorry I can post any pics, I'm on my phone out in the boonies...but will furnish you with images once I'm back to civilisation later if no one beats me to it.

I like the Signal Orange, especially if you blacked out the headlights. I think Ford did Signal Green too, as I remember that was quite a striking colour!

And people wonder why a lot of folks don't bother coming up with thread ideas. I think you might have missed the point of this being a bit of fun and maybe a way of getting a few photos of ideas out there? Apologies if that wasn't clear enough. As for doing some research, surely asking the opinion of a section of the likely market place is exactly the sort of market research that would make sense? Not that I'm going to definitely paint it the wining colour, because this is just a bit of fun. Now if you don't like it, why not comment on something you do like? There's enough negative/awful stuff going on today for us not to need more pointlessly adding. Mods, if I have indeed got things wrong, and I'm the one missing the point, please feel free to lock the thread.

I'm rubbish with choosing stuff like this but tried to find a 'polar grey' one to consider... looks a bit dull on this project car but could look cool once shiny and finished? I think orange would be easier to sell on. this might help to visulaise colours... made me go and find some 'java green' to see what that might be like... -Steve-

Wow, somebody put on their grumpy pants this morning! As for car colour - While I love the grey (and would choose it in a heartbeat if I was buying a new Ford) I think it will look wrong on the Capri. It'll look too much like shiny primer. If it was me I'd go for a period colour, or white.

stevek - that colour chart is a nice find, cheers Java green looks pretty good, not sure I've ever seen that on a Capri but it could work well - got a green vinyl interior that'd look great with it, in a very avocado bathroom suite sort of way!

What a toxic post. The OP is doing some research. If you have nothing nice to say then say nothing. It's not rocket science.

Nordic blue looks better on a car than looking at the charts suggested... Like I said I'm rubbish at colour choosing, I believe most colours can look cool as long as the treatment of the rest of the car suits the main colour.

salmon pink with a black bonnet mk2 rs 200 colour I feel I should hate that, and yet I don't, in fact I rather like it. Definitely left field - nice idea

Yes I know this is a MK2 but just for illustrative purposes I'll leave this with you. The Street Machine project Capri. Still works for me. Colour looks like Jasmine Yellow from what I can see.

What was the cars original colour? sorry couldn't see it Is that this one? Certainly made good money at £23,625! As for the original colour, I think crystall blue but given how many odd panels it now has it doesn't look much any more! Don't seem to have many photos, mostly because it looks such a shed - have one from the drive home with it
