Love for the Audi 80 Cabriolet. Looking for inspiration.

I'd make it into an RS2 replica without roof ie porsche bits (calipers, rims, mirrors) and that lovely blue paint:

There's a nice little Facebook group for these. Think it's the 'Audi 80 Cab and Coupe Enthusiasts' or something like that.

I think it's co-run by the lad who bought my old Purple B4 Coupe (Callum).

I wasn't keen on the later bonnet that the cabriolet inherited. I preferred the earlier look. Think i'd have to find an Audi 90 donor car and make an early 90 cabriolet as it would've been from factory.

2.8 12v V6 Quattro would be the version for me. On throttle bodies.

I'm a bit odd, i know.

Years ago a friend at work had a red cab that I always admired, window shopped for one, and then entually when the time came for him to sell I was first to view. Didn't buy in the end as it was really underpowered (I felt). Really nice liking car though and still admire them.

Sold ours last year. Fantastic value for money if you get a good one. Good, solid car, well built with an almost timeless style. If I were to buy another it would be one of the later "final edition" ones with leather. Can't imagine the 1.8 is very inspiring to drive. Our 2ltr was only just fast enough for me. Easy to work on, spares are reasonably priced. Few things not available now. Good lower door rubbers are hard to find.

That's a sad sight for sure. I was tempted to buy that car when you had it for sale.

Cracking cars, I've had two and miss them both. There's one on a dealer's back row not a hundred yards from where I type this and I have been observing it's steady decline with interest - I'll bid him on it when the snow hits I think. V6 or the 5 cyl are best for noise and power, but the slower 1.8 and 2.0 are cheaper to run and repair. A V6 bumper helps the looks, a little lowering, nice rims and Porsche mirrors are all a good shout, but don't go too much further with body mods - if timeless style is what attracts you, leave it alone. I would also suggest stainless trim rings round the main instruments only - really sharpen the interior and update it in line with later Audis.

Oh mate......just seen this thread. This was mine for a while, sold it on as it was getting very little use....you took it to the next level and you have no idea how sad I am to see this picture.....heartbreaking.

I think that incident upset quite a few people, from those who had owned her to those who appreciated her stunning good looks.

The good news is that the car should live on. The guy who bought the car from me sold the salvage to somebody who said he was going to repair her. She still has a current MOT from my ownership as I had it done just before selling. Currently SORNed. There's hope!
