*NO LONGER NEEDED* I'm looking for a VW Passat throttle body for a Saab V4 K-Jetronic CIS conversion that I might turn into EFI at a later stage, so I need a TB with a proper throttle position sensor. Google leads me to believe a TB off a B3 2.0 16V auto model is often used on Golfs and the like. A Golf TB mates to the V4 inlet manifold, so the Passat item should fit as well. Should look something like this: (Not my pic.)

Hi Melle,
Have you got a thread going for this conversion? (here/on UKS/V4 forum) Converting a V4 to injection is something I have considered doing to mine (sometime in the VERY distant future) at some point as I've lots of 99 injection parts/spares.

Not yet, will start a thread on the V4 forum when time allows. I'm using parts from different cars, mainly VW Golf.

Ok, thanks for the reply, I'll keep an eye out on there for the thread. I reckon injection would make the V4 a very nice engine and maybe improve both performance and economy. Good luck with this.

When tuned up correctly it is a very nice engine anyway! With a decent carburettor (either standard or uprated) without air leaks and electronic ignition (I use a Hall system off a VW, will post on that as well on the V4 forum) it gets even better. My main aim is creating an engine that performs smoothly throughout the rpm range up to about 5500 max. I don't race my cars, so no need for "fast" cams, bigger valves etc. Would be nice if the economy improves as well, even though at the moment I get nowhere near the 20000+ V4 miles a year I used to.

My father (when he had V4's) always used to swap the standard FoMoCo carb for either a single choke or 28/36 weber and always said the difference in performance was noticeable, especially when going to the twin choke. My wife liked driving my Uncles 96 2stroke and I said I'd keep an eye out for a V4 (can't afford a 2stroke.) I've only had 99's and a NG900 on the road so far. My 96 is another project car (parked in a dry garage in 1980 by previous owner) once I finish my EMS. I intend, once it's on the road to improve it's drivability and hopefully economy too with mods such as electronic ignition and maybe fuel injection (at some point).

Installing a twin choke carb (either an overhauled Solex or a Weber DG(A/E)V or DCD) on the right manifold improves economy and performance. Most FoMoCos are not worth an overhaul kit in my opinion. Some port matching and opening up of the exhaust ports and a Jetex exhaust transform the engine completely.

Yeh, my father said the same. Although he used to do is fit a DCD Weber with the standard exhaust. Even then, he said there was a huge difference. With the restrictors removed, a Jetex fitted and plus as you say, port matching and opening?polishing, I presume the further gains would be noticeable. My V4 still has the standard carb at the moment, but will when I move onto that project (and get as far as worrying about carburation), get a Weber 28/36 initially.

And still looking, after some more googling I think a 2.3 5 cylinder Audi TB will do as well. Also, please see my other thread if you can help identify the different types VW/ Audi/ Porsche throttle body. Thanks in advance!
