I was asked to detail a restored Astra GTE Leather Edition received a detail to get it in top form and protected.
The car was brilliantly painted by auto-doctors.co.uk in the factory spec 'Champion', Bordeaux Red.
It had picked up a few minor marks from being sat around since. These areas were machine polished to bring back the finish before being protected with Auto Finesse Desire.
All trims were treated.
Interior cleaned and protected.
I will be re-coloring the leather seats in the near future.
The Wheels were cleaned first using Auto Finesse imperial and a range of brushes to get into the spokes.
Rinsed off. A fallout remover was applied but done very little - the wheels were refurbished and the car hasn't seen much road use since.
The rear window rubbers were super grim. These were not replaced during the resto project.
They were doused in Auto Finesse Verso (an all purpose cleaner) allowed to dwell for a few minutes and then agitated with a variety of brushes.
The car was rinsed off and then washed using the 2 bucket method with Auto Finesse Lather and a super plush wool wash mitt.
Dried with an Auto Finesse Aqua Deluxe drying towel. Simply laying it on the surface - patting - then lifting.
The car was taken inside and spot clayed. the only real contamination was some over spray from the undersealing.
The body shop done a fantastic job, as always. Here's one reason I always recommend them...
After the resto, the car sat in a yard for a short while and picked up a mark or two.
The area was masked off before being machine polished to bring back the perfect finish.
A few more marks
Machined
And corrected
I always wipe a polished are down with Gyeon Prep or CarPro Eraser to remove the polishing oils and use halogen lights to show the true level of correction
Some more areas working around the car...
Before
After
Before
After
The area with some ambient lighting
All trims were dressed using Revive, worked into the plastics and rubbers, left for an hour or so before wiping away any excess.
After
The paintwork received it's first layer of wax using Auto Finesse Desire
Onto the interior. The leather was very dry and very dirty. I will be heading back to re-dye the leather soon so I can make a thread on that if anyone is interested?
The seats were cleaned with AutoGlym Leather Cleaner and nourished with Auto Finesse Hide.
Carpets were cleaned - stains spot treated - then protected with Gyeon Fabric.
All plastics were cleaned with Auto Finesse Verso. the indicator and wiper stalks were extra horrid!
The glass was cleaned, polished and sealed using G|techniq products.
A second layer of wax was applied for even coverage.
Some after shots (it was too dark and monsoon like to take any photos outside
Here's a little walk around video. Hopefully I can get some better finished shots of the whole car when I go back.
Cheers for reading!
