Brilliant car, my uncle had one from new, then someone torched it in his back garden! It towed a caravan for most of its life (that escaped being torched, there's no justice).

They drive great too (for a cruiser)

sturdy buggers, my old one easily won a fight with an opel kaddett years ago, go ok with the Holbay lump in em (90bhpish i think) loads of room in the bay for a bigger engine, top spec ones have a really nice wooden dash with dials nearly all the way across. not especially rot prone compared to similar aged cars but watch the floors and inner sills.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

My mates has never been welded theres a small patch needed on one front wing and thats it. Was MOT'd until recently too its never failed one since it was built lol. Its got a 1725 in already I reckon a volvo turbo motor would go in nicely. Would be sort of south london look to make a change from a mk2 cortina. Bit of inspiration

i'mon the case got money in my hand to buy one, just need to get one . i lost out on one a few weeks back, and kicked myself in the nuts for it. then i gave up but after losing out on a cortina last night i'm in the game again.
i love them, just look so simple and sturdy. and a great basis for something awesome.

Always fancied one as a daily, since there basically the same as my old minx which has done 13,000 miles in the last 2 yrs with no issues. Just make sure you get one with overdrive (std in the Humber Scepter version) - deffo worth it, tho I prefer the single square lights but everything interchangeable. And as for inspiration London Mexico rally car - did pretty well or my personal favourite (not actually a hunter, but same car undernieth) the Rapier Fastback H120 120bhp holbay on twin 40's so not slow and would look amazing lowered on some sexy wide 15" split rims. Plus best of all it'd be very different and cheap compared to similar age retros.

Think I'm gonna go for it I found out its a humber sceptre too, so its got a full wood dash and loads of extra bits hehe. Its on struts and cart springs too so can feel some spring choppage and blocks coming on.

H120's never made 120bhp by the way, most of em were closer to 90bhp although if you got lucky you could be running 110bhp and could just about top the magic ton.
Still not bad for a sub 1800cc engine back then though.

Theres a Hillman minx version of the "Rootes Arrow series" near me-not moved in a fair while. Had a few dealings with sceptres a few years ago and they are a great underrated car+ overdrive too.
