What cars have pushing electric fans?

I need a pushing electric fan (in front of the rad) for my Saab 96 V4 and I'm too tight for Kenlowe and the like. Interested to learn what cars use pushers up to about 10". I think aircon fans will do as well?

Loads of cars but I probably know of a handful. These include:

• Many PSA Cars (My 205, 106 and 306s did)
• Escort RS Turbo (A turbo took up the space where a normal fan could fit)
• Renault Espace (I think)
• Post 1977 MGBs

However, I'm not sure I'd trust a fan that did just AC work TBH or one that assisted a viscous fan. My RST could not stay cool with one SPAL fan when the second one's wiring failed; both fan only just push through as much air as the stock fan, but space behind the grille has become a problem. If both were high power units (mine are the slimline items), it would have been fine.

If I remember correctly, both my 605 with the PRV V6 and the Xantia Activa with the TCT engine had pushing fans as well.

BMW AC fans are pushers too.

The fan ford used on the RS turbo was the A/C fan from a Mk2 granada so they are quite capable if sized correctly

Thanks chaps, very helpful. If anyone knows of (Korean or Japanese?) cars with pushers from around the turn of the century I'd be happy to hear as these are what you typically find in breakers' yards. Saves me a lot of digging if I know what to look for.

Radiator size is W=485mm x H=395mm x D=115mm so twin fans will not work unfortunately.

I already looked into Disco aircon fans but they seem to come as Siamese twins? I see no way of freeing them as neatly as the ones in the pic. One would do for me, second could come handy in the future for my other V4.

Maybe those are later fans? Mine were clearly two separates held together by metal brackets

Welshpug: thanks, that's good news. I assumed the plastic was a single injection moulded piece and undoing the three nuts would only free the motor and blade.

thats all it will do, you'll need to make a frame, or cut that one down.

I have a similar problem, my Granada has a pusher fan on the front of the rad which is for the A\C and as an aux fan if things start getting heated. However it is knacked, so I am just going to replace it with a universal jobbie off ebay similar to below. I am going for a 16in, because that's the size of the original, but they come in all sizes

Apologies if this has already occurred to you, which I am sure it probably has. I know some people may not wish to entrust the cooling of their engines to cheap ebay products, but for me I'm not too worried because the main engine cooling is from a viscous fan.

Just bought a used Peugeot 307 2.0HDI fan off eBay. It should fit the rad, not sure if I can squeeze it in between the rad and the grill though. If I can't make it work by moving the rad a bit backwards or otherwise modifying either rad, fan frame or grille I'll use it on my engine test bench. If that also fails and I can't sell it on I only lost 12 quid, so not too bad.
