Even easier again, sell the Terrano and buy a Turbo one? Even better again, sell the Terrano and buy an MX5 or something that's actually worth driving. It's in a black cab, the turbo version in the cab was just a noise/ emmisions reduction device hence the original post. The transit turbo di's fitted with the Bosch pump aren't boost referenced so you could get away without changing the pump for a small power increase and just turn up the fueling

Ah that makes a lot more sense then
Duramax?
I was thinking of buying one to send home. Would make a cool Uber car.

Its a 1997. I would have an mx5 next time I buy a car. But I actually enjoy driving the taxi. Its really comfortable. I just want a sleeper. really powerful and quick but looks like curse word.

Turbo it then feed it LPG as well as diesel - that will surprise as few people at the traffic lights

Not really you could DIY it for under a £100 with a used tank, it really makes a diesel engine go, you just have to be careful not to over do it.

Tell me more I'm intrigued, are there any how to guides online. How technical is it given that an engine swap is beyond my capabilities

I'd rephrase that, beyond your current experience I only recently started messing with peugeot manual gearboxes, I find them quite easy now I've built engines years ago, though only started getting into cars in my mid twenties. we all start somewhere! if you like cars and can't afford to pay someone, you either learn to do it yourself or don't do stuff, simple as that really.

If you want a "really powerful sleeper," then a turbo 2.7 litre diesel truck engine is not going to cut it. The diesel turbo/intercooled Terrano II made 92kW when it was new, which is not even a match for a 2.0 litre Ford Focus. If you want to actually go fast in a black cab, I would be looking at a 2 litre petrol turbo as a minimum, if not a V6 or V8. Perhaps a Nissan SR20DET four cylinder, or if a V8 floats your boat, then think about a Chev LS1! Or, if you are really keen...

How much is that type of engine? Would I need to massively change the fuel system? What about the drive train and axles

The answer to all three questions is "it depends."
I don't live in the UK, so I don't know local prices there. The SR20DET is just one example of a possible engine to use, you should be able to source one as a half-cut through a Japanese importer. Depending on what type of transmission you have, the VG30DETT twin-turbo V6 from the Z32 Nissan 300ZX Turbo might work with your transmission, but whether it fits in the engine bay is completely unknown. You'd have to get the measuring tape out. Another possibility could be a Volvo turbo engine out of a 940 or similar, you could probably buy the whole car in running condition to use as a donor for the engine, transmission, fuel system and wiring/electronics.
I'm talking about swapping engines and transmissions out of another car, making/adapting custom mounts and getting the tailshaft shortened/lengthened and putting the correct end on it for the transmission. This is a lot of work, but it can be done.
A lot of this depends on your budget, and how fast you really want to go. If 100kW is enough for you, then swapping to a lightly tuned Terrano II TD27 engine would probably be the easiest way. If you want 150kW to 200kW, there are any number of engines you could use.

The gearbox is Jatco E4N71B,four speed auto with a torque convertor lock
The budget is minimal but the best option seems to be to buy a donor car and take the bits off that I need. I am also considering buying the faster car and then transferring the whole taxi body to the new car.

Well, based on your transmission, I would start with the wikipedia page for that transmission. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jatco_4N71_transmissionThen, if you choose a car with an engine that you like, which uses the same transmission, you should be able to swap it in relatively easily. The suggestion I gave before about the Nissan 300ZX V6 turbo would be a good one (Z31 model according to Wiki, but worth checking the Z32 as well), and there are also turbo or N/A four cylinder or inline-six Nissan engines available for that transmission. If you want the conversion to be an easy one, then you will need the matching ECU and wiring harness, and do some research on the specific engine to find out how much wiring is involved. You can't really swap the taxi body onto another faster car, as modern cars don't have separate chassis.

What about the drive train and axles i think the fuel system I the least of your worries if your planning on fitting something like that. Are you planning on doing this work yourself? as there are some many areas that you could become unstuck and costs could just spiral.

I'm considering a Rover V8 3.5 as its been done before and I hear its a great engine, and not too expensive.

The days of a rover v8 being not expensive have long gone, the cheapest way to get one would be buy a complete range rover or discovery and sell off everything else, if you buy a complete engine budget for a complete rebuild. They aren't the most powerful unit either, a yank V8 will make a lot more power as standard than a tuned RV8.
Try the ghetto lpg setup as it is with the diesel in it - stick a bottle in between the passengers legs with a pipe from the regulator into the air intake. On a private road stick your foot down hard and ask the passenger to turn on the gas, have them ready to shut off again when you say or if the revs go through the roof, being an auto you should be ok, see how well it goes

I would advise you read up on several threads on here to get yourself some more knowledge before you even consider anything besides simple bolt on parts.
A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous. Read or watch as much as you can, the potential to hurt yourself or anyone else is massive.
I'm not having a go, everyone has to start somewhere, but you really do not want to go in blind and injure anyone.
