Hey, This is my first post on here so hello everyone , I'm 20 years old from the uk anyway I'm looking to see if any one can help me out and list some jdm coupes, wagons that are rwd. I'm looking to get a car on classic car insurance and over the last month I've fell in love with the older jdm style cars datsun, toyota etc. The car I really, really wanted was a corolla ke 70 but they seem to be like gold dust in the Uk I've looked absolutely everywhere and no luck at all. Next car idea was a Nissan sunny b11 but i later found out they were fwd . At the minute I'm out of options so can anyone point me in the right direction? is there anything out there that's easier to find or are they all like gold dust because that's what it feels like at the minute. Cheers, Jack

haha nicely put oldschoolcool
Welcome to the forum.
I wouldn't write off fwd cars. They are cheaper in cost and insurance (usually). Save up for your 'dream' jdm car and/or if speed is what you're after drop in a quicker engine. Being rwd doesn't mean better and there are some really nice looking 'boxy' j-tin out there deserving some tlc. You can look at improving handling of them etc... which will put you in good stead for later projects...

converting to rwd = fun with BIVA (keeping to the 8point system) or unless it's a track only car.
the conversion depends on the donor car etc... eg. mx5 are commonly used.
rwd j-tin for drifting is at a premium. If you defo want to do drifting then get a cheap mx5/bmw to learn in and trash. It may sting more if you go out in your pride n joy.
also depends on your budget.

Just drift E36's?
I've owned a few KE70's and an AE71. They're just paddock basher cars, used to buy them for $200 or so and jump them off things, me and a mate of mine had an on-street demolition darby once, small town + being stupid 20 year olds... Then again isn't that what drifting is? Like rally but on road and where you just run into things?
Maybe I should have kept a few and shipped them here, they're worth $2 back home, rightfully so too, they're seriously economy cars... flimsy.

The boxiest, rwd drive wagon (and in fact fwd too since it's both) I can think of that isn't 'rare' and can be had for not-a-lot at the moment is a SF5 mk1 Subaru Forester. Yes it's only kinda retro (96-01) but the style is basically a Wagon Audi Quattro (box flares and everything) so deserves to be considered since it can be lowered very easily into a very nice, capable, fast and fun car. (It's really just a rebodied Impreza with 2" of lift) [Ok so it's style might be more "Toyota Tercel cross bred with a Volvo 245"] Insurance? probably better to go for a non-turbo model but right now you can pick them up for peanuts. [full disclosure - I may be biased as I got one myself last August )

Sunny B310 is the best car ever, like a Japanese Escort, but with proper coupe styling.

Someone doesn't understand Volvo model numbers obviously. A 262C estate would be better! More chance of finding a 145 express van or estate in UK I'm thinking. Am I missing something but never knew they make Volvo's in Japan? Thought my 142 was rare being made in Ghent/Belgium.

someone was selling a 242 estate around the corner from me but i think it's a little on the big side aha How about a Chevette van or wagon? To make it different you could bolt a Holden Gemini front end to it. But if you have the money to spend, I have the contacts to bring something like this: www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/skennars-head/cars-vans-utes/1982-toyota-corolla-panel-van-ke70/1110485029into the UK if you want. You'd have to arrange your own shipping and all of the tax/IVA/MOT stuff, but I can have someone go look at it, take heaps of photos, give you a run down of the car via Skype etc and get it shipped to a port or something.

Did want to start drifting later , I think converting one to rwd would cost a fortune although I do like the sunny. If you want to learn how to drift, do it in something cheap, disposable and with readily-available parts. You're going to stuff it into several walls and kerbs before you get any form of proficiency so what's the point of using a Japanese classic other than because you're concerned about what other people think of you? :/ *n
