Hello all,
I'm having some issues with my P100, where it runs OK 'til its warm, little bit of black smoke on throttle but nothing untoward for an old diseasel, BUT when it gets a bit warmer, about when the cold start advance should have cut-off, it starts to sound like its missing a bit and emitting lots of whitey-blue, diesel stinking smoke, like its really overfuelling, now, diesels are not my forte, but I'm sure someone here will know what to do.
Any help greatly appreciated.

If the pump timings ok, I think I'd be having the injectors tested / re-furbed...

You would have to put the pegs in, After removing plastic timing cover,
One in tdc (think alternator may have to come off on a P100)
One in cam,
And then into pump sprocket.
Tho if it's running fine otherwise I'd still be looking at injectors..
Misfire on a derv is usually this, Tho pump timing even if slightly out can cause problems, Usually bad starting too or loss of power.

White smoke is unburnt diesel, over fueling will be black, it's unburnt cos of the misfire, you could try some injector cleaner in it? TBH the mechanical injectors rarely give problems but you never know? As said i'd fit new air and fuel filters first and see if that makes a differance as it's cheap and easy to do, also i'd fit clear pipe to the feed into the main pump from the filter to check there's no air in the fuel lines as a leaking liftpump can make it miss, the button on top of the filter housing can leak air in if the diaphram perishes as it's under vacume from the main pump, TBH i just fitted a non lifting filter head to mine and added a grenade type lifter instead, they primer a LOT quicker as well Another issue can be the on boost enrichment device (to the rear of the pump facing the inner wing with a pipe going to the inlet manifold) if that leaks it leaks fuel into the inlet via the pipe and plays havoc with the idle and smooth running. Keep at it chap

Just realised I never updated this last year, it was actually a blown head gasket between two cylinders, head off, skimmed, rebuilt and refitted, all sorted.
Thought I better update (finally) in case anyone has same and finds this thread.
