Seeing as we have a high mileage thread, what about a low mileage one. Seeing as many of our cars are 30+ years old, having a car with a low mileage can be just as interesting as a car with mega miles. So what cars have you seen which are low miles (and can be backed up with history to prove)
Cars in our household at the moment, are a 22000 mile 1998 Seat Arosa, and my 1976 Lada 2101 has 49000 miles, so just over 1000 miles a year.

Good topic!
Over 20 years ago my Dad sent me to have a look at a car which was in a house auction, a neighbour of my grandparents had died in his 90's and Dad thought he had a moggie thou there which he'd owned from new. The car was there in the garage, 32 years old, 31,000 miles on it and apart from a couple of scrapes on the wing where the old fellah had been clipping the gate-posts it was immaculate. The last 5 years of his life the car had done 7 miles a year which was mileage to the MOT station & back. I'd have had it for a song if it wasn't for one other neighbour bidding on it but was forced up to £800, (I'd estimated the car's value then to be around £4K). Dad supertuned it & used it as everyday transport for about 10 years.
I recently sent my Dad a link to a stunning Riley Kestrel which was coming up for auction, nearly 45 years old and with a documented 17,000 miles from new.

My 1959 Anglia 105E has 32k on the clock and yes I have the Mot's to prove it! Even better is that it's never been restored, here it is basking in the sunshine.

Not mega low, but the '38 has around 69,000 miles on it which works out at just over 3,000/year.
I have no proof whatsoever that this is genuine, but if you replace the BECM with one off a lower mileage vehicle, then it will pick up the higher mileage from the odometer. Conversely, if you replace the cluster with a lower mileage, it will pick up the higher from the BECM, so unless someone has replaced both at some stage (unlikely) then it looks to be genuine.

One of the Dolomite club members has a '79 1500SE with under 1000 genuine miles on the clock. It's very nice but a bit pointless, it goes to shows on a trailer and gets polished a lot. A friend of mine from way back bought the last Frogeye Sprite off the line from new in 61or62. when he found out what he'd got, he immediately took it off the road and preserved it. He calls it his pension, it has 1900 miles on the clock. A few years back, Tony Fitchett of TD Fitchett parts (may he rest in peace) bought a Triumph Herald 1200 with a massive 18 recorded and verified miles from new. It was on show in his private collection for a while but i've not seen it lately.

Not mine, but a while ago a light blue mk1 mr2 turned up on ebay with 13 miles on the clock,
It had belonged to a chap that owned a Toyota garage and he'd kept the car from new as a display item in the showroom, it still had the little gags on the air vents etc, effectively brand new it was up at £13k he'd retired sold his franchise and put the car up for sale.
I believe it sold and now resides in another personal collection.
I have no proof but google fuu brings up some hits.
Edit 35 miles not 13 and it sold for £12k . The dealership was in Sheffield, Oh also getting old , a while ago turns out to be 9 years ago.

My pedal car from 1999 I hear has <5 miles on it; thus, I win. Not so fast. I have an unregistered Jawa Babetta with broken con rod that has only done 1.7km. The factory closed down in 1997 so even if it's one of the last then still 19 years old. I've also a 1996 Vespa ET4 I bought at under a year old that I've never rode / used and had been in garage storage ever since. It has done something like 2500 miles. Really must get it out and recommission some time - another roundtuit
