My Volvo 940 as standard uses what appears to be some sort of pipe from the turbo to the actuator which has a cloth type finish. I put my MBC on and it came with some rubber pipet to replace it with.
I've had some issues with incorrect boost readings (not sure why) and I want to make sure that the pipe I am using is correct. I assume that if there is a vacuum possible in the system you need a pipe which can't compress, which the rubber pipe can do.
I can't seem to find exactly what I should use - I need 4mm ID stuff and I don't mind paying for decent stuff, but would prefer black!

You wont be dealing with compressing pressures on the hoses. That stuff is on ebay so much cheaper and in any colour. Just get the same length and bore you have now and replace.

I bought some from ASH on eBay and had to send it back. My MAP senor was giving odd readings and the car would not fuel correctly on anything other than what, turns out the pipe was collapsing under vacuum.

Really, I wouldn't have thought it would be remotely near collapsing pressure. Thats interesting

Me too, but if I get stuff that doesn't compress I will know it won't be a problem at all.

All my boost pipes are ASH, they are fantastic quality for the price. When this one arrived it felt more flexible (I'll get a photo as I kept a an offcut), very thin walled like a children's drinking straw. When I flagged it with them they mentioned it being an issue with certain stock and sent a replacement.
It's just worth keeping in mind as I ran for weeks with that attached and wondered why the readings were severely off.

Yet to find anything as good-a quality as going to a breakers and getting a few lengths of OEM boost actuator hose

Yup, Samco after speaking with a known hose manufacturer for a classic hose company (amongst others) have a good construction regarding the ply etc. What bore of hose do you need? I can see what can be done locally .

Why not use plastic air line and just use silicone bits at each end.
