Well, although I didn't manage to get the Cressida up there for the show, I still got myself up there!
Despite the name, Beachfest did not, in fact, take place on the beach but beside it, with most of the main streets blocked off for use.
There was music and apparently a pin-up girl competition (I saw nowt of that).
I wandered around for a few hours and took some photos. Looooots of elderly Australian and American tin, a few Germans, a couple of Brits and a lonely Japanese (I don't count the Landcruiser as they're basically adopted).
So, some pics! Just a couple of ones I liked, you can find the rest HERE.
Feel free to post any you like.
This thing was cool, I had to do a rego check on it to find out what it was, and then google the result, haha.
Australian designed Group B based on an Alpha Sprint, imported minus the V6 and a HSV spec V8 thrown in instead, apparently.
Meant to be mid/rear engined but I'm not sure what was in this one.
This was pretty cool, too. Roof is a reasonably familiar option over here.
Bonnet.. not so much.
That'll do for now. It was good getting out with the camera again, but it highlighted why I don't like my wide anymore, haha. Time to invest in a 24 or 35mm prime.
The not so wide shots were all on my 85mm which is why things are a bit tight. Was a little frustrating standing on the other side of the street waiting for masses of people to get out of the way when they don't even know you're there, haha. But I really enjoy what the 85mm is capable of.
Cheers,
Matt
