Morning All
I'm looking for some slightly badass tyres for my fairway taxi. I know literally nothing about tyres. Those of you who've ever read a post by me will know that knowing nothing about cars is a running theme.
I have been recommended these 195/60 R16 H. Will they fit any idea if they will suit or look "badass"?
Thanks Edward

"Badass" means different things to different people. What do you think it means?
Some like stupid levels of stretch, I don't because it is stupid and dangerous, yes it gets you wider rims and the tyres under the arches, but at the cost of curse word handling, over heating badly wearing tyres and PC plod fingering your arch gap on a regular basis.
Maybe you want the fattest tyres you can squeeze on the rim?
Edit for noticing you want "slightly badass".

Lower profile will reduce the rolling radius and alter speedo reading and gearing as a result, so don't go too mad with it. If you go fatter tyre then you can drop the profile and keep the radius similar. www.willtheyfit.com

What size wheel and what size tyre is fitted as std I started out as a mechanic on London cabs just before the fairway came out I've always fancied doing something with one myself
The early models still had drum brakes all round and a more conventional steel wheel The later ones had disc brakes and to keep the turning circle the same they had a mad offset this wheel looks a bit odd
So if you've got the early model and it was me I'd get the wheels banded and fit a wider tyre to suit

175R15 'C' and 6PR (Radials) pressures 38 front 36 rear In your first post you mentioned fitting 195/60/16 if you have 175/15 on it now the 195/60/16 won't fit as they are 16 inch and you have 15 inch wheels the 'c' and the 6pr means they are a commercial tyre so they have a load rating as it's not a working cab you should be ok with a general car tyre next thing is if yours are 175/15 with no marked profile then they would probably be the equivalent of a 80 profile so with some help from a tyre size calculator A 205/65/15 would work out the closet to what you already have only a 1.9% difference so speedo/gearing should be the same and they do them as a commercial tyre in that size that tyre would be aprox 30mm wider not sure how that would look on your wheels or go 195/65/15 this will bring the tyres rolling diameter down by 27 mm or 4% smaller one thing you could try is buy one of each of the tyre sizes I've mentioned (off eBay get the cheapest you can find or try and find one in a tyre shops scrap pile) and go to a local tyre fitters with the spare wheel and get them to fit one take it home and see what it looks like on the cab not ideal but better than buying a set of tyres and then finding out you don't like them or they don't fit that's pretty much the best advice I can give you

Sounds great. I shall take on board all this info. Why is everything cars either mind boggling or expensive or mindbogglingly expensive

I don't think you gonna get a badass look by changing tyres on stock wheels.
In general you need a wider alloy (in combination with a wider tyre) and lower offsets to get the visual impact.

175R15 'C' and 6PR (Radials) pressures 38 front 36 rear if yours are 175/15 with no marked profile then they would probably be the equivalent of a 80 profile 82% actually (they can be mixed, though) /pedant
