Interesting - what's the story with the electric conversion? Conversion!? She's factory built. 16Kwh batteries. 180 volt DC. 64mph top speed. Regenerative braking. 50 miles between charges. Webasto fuel cabin heater. I've got two of them I love them. (I'm going to flog one if anyone's interested) If they weren't so rare I'd recommend everyone has one as being mot and tax exempt they can just sit there as an extra car and be used for local errands.

I've got a few suitable vehicles for this thread, all 5 cylinder turbos oddly. Only one I'd class as retro though... 1. Had this Caravelle a while. Has tow bar, removable multivan seat / bed fitted, removable cooker and fridge 'pod' - very versatile. 2. I've been using this V70 T5 auto daily for 18 months, but now for sale as replaced by number 3 below. 3. Latest acquisition... the retro one! 850 T5 manual.

This is my daily driver, and gets used and abused at the moment for tip runs, removals etc. I have another which is fairly rotten, so plans are to chop that 1 in half and make a trailer.

See signature, Discovery (was even better when we had a horse trailer) and Alfa 159 estate Sportwagon. I do like to have an estate. Also got a little Erde trailer. Although you can use a MX5 to collect DIY supplies, but not when it's raining.

Haha, 1.21 Gigawatts of power! Looks an amazing lump under there, are you sure it's not a mini nuclear power station??? So were they ever officially released in the UK? If so must have been quite low-key?

Here's my new wagon. Just waiting on a registration number from the DVLA then she'll be good to go. It's the same 2.0 6 pot as the Lexus is200 (minus the vvti) so returns good economy despite the auto box and is practical as hell with the exception of spares.

Not even close to retro but I'm running a V70 D5. Comfy as hell, awesome sound system from factory and drives very well, let alone for something with 196k on the clock, altho the intercooler has just started doing a great leaf blower impersonation! I'm aiming for 300,000 now the clutch has been changed last week.
Whilst on the topic of Volvo's has anyone else had their pants pulled down by volvo for boost pipes on these?! £78 inc VAT for the 6 inch pipe that feed the turbo cold side!

i had one of those D5 wagons, very comfy, great stereo, but curse word cargo room compared to the proper old volvos, I mean small tailgate hole and really low ceiling, ridiculous really, and poor turning circle. I got 64mpg out of it on one journey though hypermiling.
And yea the electric berlingo I think they mostly sold them in other countries but maybe 200 or so in the UK. Since owning one for a year now, i have only ever used a fossil fuel car about 4 times. (I also own a 2014 Leaf)

It's a Toyota Mark II wagon. Pretty much a Cressida estate.
Chances of finding another are slim though. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only one in Britain

Here's my new toy. The photo doesn't do justice to the massive scale of this thing.... So here's a photo of it with a full size set of double ladders in it to give a better idea Only thing I don't like to talk about too much is the 159 litre petrol tank....!

My 6.2 diesel G20 van is the best parts hauler i've encountered so far, it averaged 11l\100km with a 1.3 ton trailer, and half a car of spares inside, over 700kms. With 2.1 tons on the trailer, and 600kg of parts in the car, it did 13l\100km, so pretty damn good, that. And not on flat land either, we're talking several long 10% gradient hills Its also over 30 years old, so its tax exempt
