We fancied some family freindly vintage smoke and noise this weekend and the weather was just about perfect for chilling on a bench halfway up a hill...
Some decent car par spots on the walk to the gate.
Vintage only parking inside was full of all sorts.
There was a special anniversary display of BMWs with a whole line of Dixis and some other later machines including this 'honorary' BMW (actually a Bristol with a Zagato body).
A paddock walk.
Blower about as big as this V twin.
I spent a bunch of time looking and taking photos of interesting details to file in the cycle car project part of my brain. This car had all the holes.
and barrel thottle valves?
I liked the speedo table.
SOme racing - the VSCC generally use the short track without the extra loop since that was a later addition.
This was smoking the left rear on the approach...
The right rear on the exit...
and then everything on the way out of the hairpin.
My favourite, 200hp Darracq
The view from on high.
A couple more spots on the way down to the paddock again.
This car might well have been built in a small factory at the end of the road where I was born.
The correct number of tires.
Love the scooped out body sides of this.
Drive it like you stole it, Bugatti edition.
ERA R4D
And everyone's favourite smoker, the Napier Bentley.
Going...
...Gone.
A handful more as we headed out...
A top day of genteel sporting motoring.
